help please! My 13 yr old yorkie has several problems however the man one right now is collapsed trachea and he is constantly coughing,he is on several meds and I am now considering putting him to sleep. this will kill me because he is still very active but I am reduced to giving him benedril just to keep him quiet and to keep peace around the house. surgery is not an option and btw he has chf and an enlarged heart also, I have been hoping to just wake up and find him gone but I guess its not meant to be. any suggestions? |
This is a very hard decision and I don't envy you. I had to make this decision a few years ago with my Westie and it was one of the hardest in my life. Usually with an enlarged heart they don't last long. My brother's dog had that and he came home one day to find his beloved dog gone. (He was a dalmatian) and he had to remove him by himself. That is one of the few times I saw my brother cry. So I think it is better to put him down, then to have to come home one day and find him gone. What ever your decision is I'm sure it will be a good one. God Bless. |
I'm sorry that your little one is suffering. I know it is hard, but sometimes putting them to sleep is the kindest thing that we can do for them. May the Lord walk with you through this difficult time. |
This is so terrible that you have to go through this. My mother-in-law had a boxer that could not walk what so ever, he also had cancer. She refused to put the poor thing down even her vet said he didn't want to. Everytime I went up to VA I saw this poor baby wasting away. Bad thing, she finally decided to do it and my brother-in-law went out and shot him without her telling him too. His reasons were, "you were going to waste $60 in putting him down anyway and I needed to borrow $25 for gas". She gave the freak money !!! |
