up late with 3 sick Yorkies!!! Anyone still up? Starsky has diarhea! I am watching my friends 2 yorkies, Chelsie and Lottie. They both have diarhea and are vomiting like a real flemmy stuff. They have appetites. What should I do? or feed them? I penned the sick pair of my friends in the kitchen and they just kept barking and I think It made them throw up more. So now here I am with all three of them along with my so far healthy Shylah trying to figure out where to sleep. I dont want poopy butts in my bed. And they want to be with me. Can dogs spread some kind of virus to one another?? |
I don't have advice, but wanted to say I hope they get better. |
I freeze pupmkin into little spoonfuls.. like making cookies.. and freeze it on a try.. when forzen.. I take them and put them in a baggie for as I need it.. do you have pumpkin and can you bar them into a kitchen..any adult kayopectate.. not spelled right.. but giving them that would sure help with those poops... anne |
unforunatley I don't have any Pumpkin or Kayopectate!! any othe Ideas?? I will go to the grocery store tomorrow. |
I just want you to know that I am sending good thoughts your way. I think that dogs are like humans and can pass whatever they have to eachother. Hopefully it is just something that they ate and it passes fast. But don't let this go for more then a day. Yorkies can get dehydrated fast. Make sure that they have water around. |
we definitly have lots of water around. Chelsie drank a ton in the night. I have never seen a yorkie drink that much water. Now I'll be up letting her out soon. So far no vomiting or diarrhea during the night. Keeping my fingers crossed. What should feed them in the morning?? |
I'm going through the same thing. From what I've read, you should withhold food for 24 hours and let their systems recover. I'm finding that more difficult to do than it sounds. They give me that "I'm starving!" look. After that, feed them bland food until their system recovers. White rice and boiled chicken or boiled lean hamburger. At least that's what I've read. As I said, I'm struggling with the same issue. |
Any update? If they're having BOTH diarrhea and vomiting - it makes me think they got into something or ate something they really shouldn't have - can you think of anything? |
sorry, I am just now getting back to you. My husband got up in the morning and let me go back to bed and he watched the yorkies. I did call her owner and she told me to give here some of the pills she had left. She said Chelsie has colitis, so I gave her one this morning and so far no bloody stools. When I got up I gave her some nutrical so her sugar doesn't drop. She did get up an went potty outside and drank a little water. The other 2 with diarrhea are doing somewhat better. Still seeing soft stools but not as much. All have no appetite, will give it a few more hours and try the chicken and rice. The owner of the 2 I am watching said both of hers dogs have real sensitive tummy's and I had given them some treats with my other dogs and she thinks that upset their tummys. She only gives them yogurt drops for treats. I am not sure why Starksy has an upset tummy. Nothing has changed for him, unless he picked up something at the vet from his physical. I do know my dogs don't like the Canidae dog food since they changed the formula. I just bought the new bag a week ago and it looks so different. I think I may have to change their food, since they don't care for the Canidae. I am so upset that Canidae did that. I finally found a food they all like and then they changed it!!!!! |
