Help!! I am a 'foster mom' to some lab x pups... they are only about 12 weeks old.. they were abandoned and we are trying to find them homes.. any way one of them has liquid poop! I am really worried.. he has pooped like that 3 xs.. what do i do?? there are no animal hospitals or anything here... lp me pls! |
There has to be a vet somewhere. At 12 weeks, this could very quickly be an emergent situation - or, even a life threatening situation once dehydration sets in (which could happen today). What is he eating? How is his activity? What is his weight? You could give some canned pumpkin. There are meds you could give, but I really don't think you should give them to an abandoned pup. A pup this age could have many other things going on - and I don't know if you found them outside or...? I would get him to a vet ASAP. |
Feed him some canned pumpkin. How long has he had diarrhea? I ask because you dont want to let it go too long or he will dehydrate. If you dont see improvement right away he needs to be seen by a vet. When my chach was 8 weeks he got diahrea and I didnt take him to the vets for a couple of days and he had to be given fluids intraveniously |
Gosh, I wish I could help....Let's see. Make sure the pup is getting plenty of water so it doesn't become dehydrated. What is he or she eating? Do you have any idea if they've had any shots or been wormed? If you knew what exactly was wrong, then you could probably get more help. You might need to feed him/her something to firm up the poop. A little cheese, cottage cheese, canned pumpkin. I wish I had some really good advice for you. Bump for someone who knows what they are talking about. |

I volunteer at the local pound, and the officers where away at a convention thing so there were no drop offs allowed... a lady had just found them walking on a gravel road... i feel so helpless... and i am worried that if it is anything contagious... i have my 2 dogs (1 just got neutered yesterday) and the other 4 pups! |

I will now lol |
The first thing that comes to my mind when you say the smell is bad is PARVO...We lost a dog to parvo and the smell was very bad and very distinctive. He needs a vet. You don't want to wait. If it is parvo....it is not the parvo that actually kills them it is the secondary infection in the bowel. It is a very quick to take them down. They show signs and then they are BAD sick and on the verge of death. It is very hard to save them once they are to that point. |
I am happy to report that he is having solid poop again!! :D i gave him the rice and stuff earlier, and made sure he had plenty of water... he is running and playing! thank you all!! He has had a rough week- he was abandoned, is going between my house and another foster parent, she wormed him wed, he had a brother get put down.... poor guy!! |
