Ate part of a chicken bone Hey All!! I haven't been on YT for a while but i do have a question I need answered quite urgently. Zoe ate a piece of chicken bone but not quite a bone. You know the long thin strip in the drum stick? That piece. He had diarrhea today which is not unusual for him since he has a sensitive stomach. Do u think it is safe to wait until tomorrow to see if he's doing ok or should I rush him to the vet now? I just don't have the money for a vet visit unless I NEED to go. Thanks! |
I would wait and see if it passes it most likely will. The scary thing about cooked chicken bones is they can splinter. My Chachi got ahold of drumstick and ate a portion of it before and it passed. I am concerned about the diahrrea though. Has he been treated for that? |
Was it raw or cooked? Is that long thin strip, cartilage or bone? It's been so long since I've seen a chicken leg, I can't remember. If it were just cartilage, I wouldn't think you would have to worry. Can't advise you on the diarrhea. I call my vet about things like that. |
thanks for your quick replies!! I called my vet and they told me that I should bring him in BUT if I decided to wait a day, to look for vomiting. My vet will be opened tomorrow from 10-3 so I will wait and see. He seems to be normal. Playful, eating, no vomit, we went on a walk. Thanks so much!!! btw...he does not have constant diarrhea but he will if he eats ANYTHING other than his food and usual snacks. I bring a stool sample to every check up and he seems to be a healthy boy that loves to sneak up on you and eat human food. Unfortunately, I'm a clumsy eater therefore food would fall on the floor and he would catch it before I can even attempt to grab it. |
I guess the vomiting would indicate there is some type of obstruction, good to know. Your little guy sounds like mine. He always chooses me to sit by at the dinner table, and I've never purposely fed him from the table, but there have been the occasional woops, and he can retrieve it before I can bend down. |
