Yorkie has Cysts inside stomach Does anyone have experience or know of this problem. Our 10-year-old yorkies stomach started to swell up. He eats and drinks a lot of water but still plays and is active. We took him to the Vet and they took blood samples and x-rays and later said they had to do an ultra sound. They said it was cysts growing in his stomach. The Vet said he could remove the cysts if they are on the spleen or one kidney. After the ultrasound report he said he could not determine how they are connected. He said he could operate and remove as much as he can without touching the vital organs. Since the dog’s stomach is expanding everyday we are afraid it will burst and he will die, we have decided to allow him to operate. He has to have a blood transfusion as he operates. The total will be around $2,500. We feel if he can save his life for a few more years it is well worth it and if he does pass away as a result of the surgery at least we have tried. We are so sad about this. If anyone has any knowledge of this type of cyst please let me know. Thanks so much. |
Hello and Welcome. I'm glad you found YT - I'm sorry it was under these circumstances :(. I wish I knew more about this specific problem, but I don't. I do know that cysts can fill, as your doctor seems to imply. So, he will remove the ones OUTSIDE the stomach? What about the ones you mention inside the stomach? Will he aspirate/drain those? I wonder too, will the cysts continue to appear elsewhere? I am so sorry you're going through this, it must be just overwhelming to think about. I can't imagine. My heart really goes out to you. |
I'm so sorry for what you and your little yorkie are going through. I think it's great that you're willing to try to help him get well. I'm sorry I don't know anything about the subject, but I'm hoping someone else here will! |
