Tring to poop on me?! TMI? Help. First of all, I'm sorry for the way I had to title my post, but I honestly have no other way to ask this. My 4 month old Yorkie has tried to go to the bathroom on me TWICE. He gets real close and tries to sit on me somehow, and then relieves himself. Luckily, I have caught this both times, but not fast enough to get him off the couch. He then proceeds to go on the couch and has diarrhea like BM's. He is eating just fine, drinking plenty, very active, and does not seem like anything is really wrong, but I am shocked! I plan on calling his Vet tomorrow to get an appointment, but I want to check with y'all to see if y'all have any other suggestions. He is partly potty trained. He goes outside to the potty when we take him and we take him quite frequently. But his BM's are very smelly and pretty wet. I have owned and been around several dogs, but I am just confused! Please, help! :( |
sick I am not sure, but your dog may be coming to you because he is sick. I have never heard of this, but I would go to the vet and I would give my kaopectate. If he is really young, I am thinking he just needs help... I would say no and try to help him to the right place to potty and give him a little medicine.. |
I am trying to think of the human name for something right now and it's escaping me - but it's "secretory" or "leaky" something, where you suddenly just GO - and there is no warning and no control. It could be diet related, ibs/ibd/colitis, could even be spastic colon or something - but it doesn't sound like something the little guy can control, really. Has he had a fecal test ever? What are you feeding him? Did he ever have an intestinal issue or infection as a pup? I would get him to the vet for testing. :) |
Thank you both so much! He is on Purina Pro Plan which is what the breeder had him on so we kept him on it. As far as I know, he did not have any intestinal problems; however, I will bring that up. It almost acts like he knows that he has to go, because he does get up like he is going to search. He just comes to me and squats. :( Husband thinks it's funny, I; however, do not. :p I hope we can get this checked out tomorrow and everything is okay. Thanks, again! |

Thank you so much Wiley's Mom! I will look into that. Unfortunately, I had no idea that brand was bad for him. I trusted the breeder I got him from. I am unsure of a pet boutique of that nature, but will definitely look into that now. If I do not, I will speak to my Vet about it tomorrow and go from there. :) I appreciate all your help! |
I would definetly get a stool sample. I mean poop does smell but if it smells horribly bad it can mean a parasite or some kind of infection. What color is it? Black or tar looking poo can mean internal injury or bleeding. Keep is updated. :) |

At one time all dogs could voluntarily express their anal glands. Most dogs have lost the ability to do this voluntarily...they are expressed when they have bowel movements. These are glands located on either side of his rectum and were used to mark their terrority. The result is very smelly, brownish goo (that's a real technical term. :rolleyes: )...but it could be mistaken as diarrhea. I have read of other cases here...where some yorkies could still apparently release their glands voluntarily and actually had done this in their owner's laps. I would attempt to collect this fluid and take to the vet. Perhaps they can determine if it's fluid from his glands or actually feces. |

I recently received a sample of Solid Gold Just Wee Bits and my girls love it! So as soon as we start getting low on Canidae, I'm switching them. Please let us know what the vet says.
