Yeah, it's a straight line to an infection. The vet may want to trim it way back so it doesn't continue to break - and they may want to give you a prescription ointment to apply. It'd be best to call and get in. :) |
Call your vet and see what they suggest. In the meantime you can probably wrap his little paw and apply neosporin. They have a new neosporin that will help with pain. I bought it when Gabby hurt her paw pads when we went swimming. |
It's best to call your vet, most likely they will give you an antibiotic for this. Also you need to keep it clean with peroxide daily. My friends cat tore off 3 of her nails ands they gave her 2 different rounds of anitbiotics, made her wash her cats paws in peroxide daily and use a special cat litter so the litter didnt get caught in the wound. She had to buy a special old print newspaper litter and its been 2 weeks and it is finally getting better. I wish you the best. I hope you baby gets better fast. |
thank you ll for ur reponses .. they are very helpful!! |
When my deceased Chihuahua was just a few weeks old and went in for her first shot, she had a very bad reaction and went into convulsions and they put her in a cage and is where she broke one of her nails totally off. (it never grew back) They gave her an antibiotic medication in case of infection. Your little one will need the same or he could actually lose all his nails on that foot if infection sets in. |
