brand new puppie me and my girlfriend just recently bought a newborn yorkshire terrier.... i payed 1100 for the puppy...... sence then we have both fell in love wirh our new puppy... about 5 days ago i noticed her back 2 feet point outwards... i havnt brought her to the vet yet... is this common.. does anybody kno what this might be... what should i do.. please help:mad: |
How old is the puppy? You might want to post pictures so we can see what they look like. Does the puppy run and play ok? |
reply she is almost 2 months.... when she sits her back legs point out.. almost like duck feet....and when she runs her back 2 feet point out... she plays fine.. dosnt seem to be in pain.... picture this.... if a clock on the number 12 is straight... her featt go 3 and 9... its reallly upsetting... not worried about looks... but worried about health |

Welcome to YT - sorry such disturbing issues brought you here. This is a really knowledgeable group, and hopefully someone can address this. Have you had her checked by the vet? I would be concerned about her knees and hips |
It could be bad or ok. My little one's feet pointed out for a while. i took him to the vet and i was told that at that point in their growth spurt sometimes the muscles havent grown as fast as the bone and it causes them to point outward. 9 times out of 10 they grow out of it. Mine did. But my vet said not to worry as long as he wasnt in pain. but if in a couple months is hasnt gone away then i would worry |

A friend of mine at work said that she had a dog whose feet turned out and it was a vitamin deficiency :confused: We were in a nutrition workshop, so she couldn't go into more detail. Good luck! |

Your pup is terribly young so it's hard to say but it could be just poorly bred and be cowhocked or it could be a nutritional problem from being weaned too early. I'd take it to the vet and have him check the hips and patellas just to be on the safe side. I'd definitely call the breeder as they should be notified of any health problems. |

I got my pup very young too and at that time I didn't know any different. Good breeders won't let their pups go before 10 weeks, usually closer to 12 weeks or more if they're small. The only advice I have is to ask the vet. I don't know much about their little feet. Good Luck, I hope your baby is OK. Make sure you feed very often, as their sugar can drop quickly when they are so young. Sounds like you're a concerned owner and will do everything you can for your baby!! Good for you. |
My little girl's feet did this alot worse when I first got her. It is slowly resolving. But-I would have the vet check her at your next visit. If she does not act like she is in pain-then I wouldn't rush to the vet-but if it starts bothering her I would get her in sooner rather than later. |
