Do yorkies walk in a straight line? I have noticed sometimes when Millie is walking, she tends to walk at an angle, rather than straight a head. Its hard to explain, but just want to make sure theres nothing wrong with her. Her legs all seem fine, and she has no movement problems. |
Welcome to YT! I have a Milli too! :) Mine do this sometimes too-I think it's because they're looking around them and not straight ahead. If they REALLY want to go straight, they put on that "aerodynamic look" with their nose forward, ears set back, and determined to walk straight on that leash! If you're concerned, or it's really noticeable, check with your vet. |
Mine seem to do that when they are walking next to me because they keep looking up at me and seem to be walking at an angle. How old is your baby? |
I haven't actually walked Lucie yet, she's still too little and hyper, her attention span is 0 haha. But when I walk Duke on a leash he never walks straight unless I keep him right next to me. Otherwise he is everywhere, usually because he wants to sniff around. Other than on a leash though I would say he walks fairly straight, I have never seen anything worth worrying over. |
Mine walks in a straight line most of the time unless she is distracted. Going down stairs is another story. she goes down on an angle with her body angled as well. its funny. |
Jack (6 months) will walk straight if he is right beside me on the leash, other than that he probably couldn't walk to straight to save his life. But growing up my mom did have a schnoodle. He walked at an angle ALL the time. And when he was really happy his little butt would be curved next to his face (so he looked like U) and walked sideways to us! It was super cute and hilarious (RIP Patches.... your family really misses you :cry8:) I can't imagine there is anything wrong. I know Jack has LP in both his hind legs..... level 4 in the left and a 2-3 in his right but I have never seen it bother him so I am not concerned yet. |
I havent had Millie on a leash yet either. She is 18 weeks. I just notice when she walks, her bottom is slightly pointed towards her head like your Jack, luvmyYorkieJack. When she runs she is fine, and she doesnt do it all the time when she walks. She got a vet checkup when I got her at 14 weeks, so I assume the vet would've noticed if there was anything wrong. |
Haha - my darwin does the same thing! on a leash he is all business and straight as an arrow, running, he sprints straight, and rounds corners really well, however, off leash, if I let him follow me in our apartment common patio area, he is always slanted. My boyfriend and I joke that he could've never made it as a show dog b/c his trot woud always be slanted! He's so cute though, head straight, front legs straight, but his back legs move a bit faster!! : ) |
I think that Krissie is a pretty straight walker, unless she is being pummeled by a maltese...:) |
Sammy does walk on an angle even though he's next to me. Like if he's next to me his head is at 11 o clock and his tail is at 12. |
Thanks for all the replies. At least its not just Millie then! |
my duke walks at an angle quite often, it is so cute. he also has a habit of lifting his back left leg when he goes down the stairs...balance or just a character thing???:aimeeyork:p:) |
