diarrhea ... again I just gave Munchkin 1/4 of an immodium ... is there anything else to do for diarrhea. She gets it frequently. This little girl is sick so much, I'm thankful for the little breaks in between problems. I'm getting so worn out from worrying about her. I've been up with her most of the night ... again. Judyann |
Have you taken her to have a fecal exam? You should really have her seen by the vet to figure out what is wrong.. Persistant diarrhea is not a good thing...I have been battling it off and on with 2 of mine and we finally figured out that they were getting to the pool water and drinking it...and also the rawhide chews are horrible and were causing some of it so I stopped using them...good luck... |
Munchkins diarrhea... Thank you for answering, Amanda. I have had her stools tested many times. Thus far, they have never found anything amiss with it. She is just not a hale and hardy girl. Her first bout of pancreatitis was missed by the vet so, consequently, she has become chronic. Her GI status is delicate at best. This could have come from simply mixing a little too much canned food in with her rice and chicken. It's a constant balancing act with her. I usually give her a little immodium until it stops. I also noticed mention of pedialyte in one of the discussions here ... good idea, I will get some for her. She is not a good drinker so that may help some. I hate to say it but, at this young age, this dog is breaking my heart. I'd give anything just to have her healthy. Judyann |
If she been diagnosed with pancreatitis, it will require contant vigilance with her diet - and real balancing. Have you consulted with a nutritionist about a pancreatitis-specific diet? There are many people on here who have tons of experience w/ pancreatitis and I know they'll chime in w/ great advice. So, hang tight - help is on the way. :) |
Can you give us a little more info about your Munchkin? How old is she? Does she take any medications/supplements? What is her regular diet? |
Probiotics! My vet recently gave me Probiotics to give to Ozzy who has been having loose mucosy stool and it has worked miracles. We were also getting up every 2 hours for him to poo. Maybe ask your vet about it? It may help. I hope your baby feels better. |
I am sorry to hear she is having so many problems, I am sure it is misserable for both of you. Maybe a second opinion from a different vet would help, I would think there would be a special diet, supplements, or some kind of med that would help. |
