not eating or taking meds i think lacey is upset because we laft her for a week when we left she didnt eat 1 meal or take those meds for her MVD, but now i am home and she hasnt eaten 2 meals or taken those meds. how long should i wait until i force her to eat or force the meds down her? she is acting fine besides being clingie and was a little shakey this morning but seems ok now. |
Unless she has GI upset and the meds won't stay down, I would force them immediately. As for food, I don't know but are you sure she is upset? Could it be that she isn't feeling well and just doesn't want to eat? If she hasn't eaten all day I would probably make her. Maybe give her PediaSure instead of food? |
k i will force her to take her meds. should i even do the lactulose? and i have a question about the pediasure it now is enriched with fiber in the vanilla flavor is that ok? i have no clue if she isnt eating because she is mad at me, i know the day we left she didnt eat 1 meal but was good after that, and now that i am home i was just thinking it was that again. |

Are you sure her meds were giving when you were gone? I don't know much about lactulose, so I'm not sure, but isn't is usually given AFTER meals? I'm not sure about the Pediasure either but I think fiber is good for liver compromised dogs. You can always just go with PediaLyte instead of PediaSure until you have an answer. Have you posted on the Yahoo Group? |

Go with the PediaSure with fiber vanilla flavor. That's the good kind for them. I am not a vet, just speaking from experience. PediaSure for a couple of days should be fine. It has the vitamins/minerals/protein/calories that they need to sustain them. One little bottle of PediaSure has about 7 grams of protein. I give it in place of meals for the 1st day and on the second day of Pediasure, I usually start weaning off the PediaSure and starting the food little by little. Has Lacey been pooping okay? I would not stop the lactulose. |
