Hi Ellie!

I called the vet and they told me to keep the area clean using antibacterial soap and applying neosporin. They said to watch for infections...other than that she should be fine. Her paws are alreay starting to heal.

We use Excel Paw Wax on Shelby & Seymour when we camp. (and sometimes here at home, too) It is a wax that you apply to the pads of their feet and it protects them. You can get it at Petsmart (online, also).

Here is a description of Excel Paw Wax:/Protects and conditions dog's paws all year round. Helps prevent paw damage from gravel, asphalt, ice, snow, salt-treated roads, hot pavement, and all hard surfaces. Also provides grip on slippery surfaces. Ingredients: White oil, paraffin wax, rosin, silicon dioxide, perfume.

Her paws look good today. Swellen went down...vet told me to watch for infection. I'm cleaning her paws about 3 times per day and applying neosporin.

Thanks for the info on the paw wax. I am definately going to try that.

The paw wax would be great as well as the triple antibactrial ontiment. I use it on everything. I have a friend that burned her little poms paws taking her walking on concrete. She just didn't realize how hot it was to her feet. Poor little baby, hope he feels better soon.

yup, i've made two threads about her in the brothers and sisters section.

glad to hear gabby is on the mend and her little paws are doing better.

I'm so sorry that your little baby has her paws all torn up. It happened to Mitzi when we let her run in a tennis court... I don't know where to get water shoes but you can buy garden gloves, the ones with the rubber dots, cut the fingers off and fix them to the paws with double sided velcro. They are great!
