She stepped on a wasp Coco stepped on a wasp an hour or so ago and has been limping around the house since then. She seems uncomfortable but okay...I called the vet but they are closed today and their message says to call the emergency clinic. I am not sure if I am overreacting...but she is limping around the house and she looks pretty sad. Does anyone have any advice?? Thanks! |
OUCH!! You could try putting a cold compress on it...or ice in a zip lock. That'll help take the "burning" sensation away from the sting. ...if she'll let it stay long enough. If nothing else.....every minute that goes back...the pain lessens. An hour or so from now...it probably won't bother her at all. |
mickey stepped on a bee last week and was limping also. i phoned the emergency vet and they told me to use bicarbonate of soda. use a teaspoon to half pint of cold water and put his paw in it and that did the trick to stop it stinging. hope this helps:thumbup: |
Thanks so much for your fast responses! I better go tend to my little furkid. I feel so bad for her...she keeps looking up at me with her little limp paw. |
This must be the time of year for bees. I was actually coming on to post the same thing about Preston. He got stung by something last night, we are not sure what. He was just walking around the yard then started yelping and running. I was really scared because I didn't know what was wrong. Then I got him to settle down enough for me to look. I found a red lump with a purple center on the top of his front foot. He was limping also. I called the vet, and they had me give him half a 25 mg benadryl (remember Preston is a teapot weighing in @ 13lbs) and put ice on it. He limped off and on for the rest of the night and would occasionally jerk his foot around. By this morning he was fine, no limping, the swelling was gone and just a little purple spot remains. |
My grandmother always put a paste of baking soda and a tiny bit of water then wrap. It draws out the poison. I did this for all my kids while they were growing up. It works! |
I guess Coco was just being a drama queen. She had me so worried because she was limping around and laying in her bed with her little leg twitching that I took her to the vet later that afternoon. The second I walked into the vets office she started running around like she was fine...the vet looked at me like I was crazy...and then we got home and she started limping around again. She is fine now. I think she just really wanted some TLC!! I'm just happy she okay and now she is so scared of the grass, she won't walk on it. She has me wrapped around her little paw! |
I'm glad Coco is feeling better. :) |
