HELP! I NEED IT NOW PLEASE{Blood in stool} Bella has just pooped and well it is only a small amount but it looks bloody,I gave her some chicken boneless yesterday to try to get her to eat and todyt she has acted all sad and laying around and not eating or wanting to go out.She is still bleeding some from having her frist heat cycle,Could this amj]ke her act this way.I am SCARED.No money for the vet because my husband lost his job last month and no unemployment coming in. Some one please give me some advice.Thought about cooking her a egg to see if she will eat it. What doe you think??? |
Boneless chicken should not hurt here. That's all Buddy eats. Did she something fatty. Sign of pancratitis is blood in the stools but it could also be other's things. Don't panic, I will bump this up for you. Good luck, |
bumping again |
thanks Archie,I never give her anything fat,she loves to eat on pinecones and tear them up but theey have never bother her before, iknow I have been away alot and well I am hving to care for my mom who just got home from the nursing home after a broke shoulder and leg and Bella gets so upset when I have to leave, but I dont think that would cause the blood |
bumping |
I think she should see a vet ! |
No that would have nothing to do with it. Watch her closely and make sure you watch what she eats. Wait it out and see what happens. If she's acting fine just keep an eye on her. Hopefully someone else will answer. If she's eating and drinking I would just wait and see what happens. |
chicken & rice is the best for the stomach, she is probably acting that way from her heat, I know my girls just lay around and act like they lost their best friend for awhile, all girls are different but I would say thats all that is wrong with her, I would keep a eye on her poop and see if its gets more blood in it or if it gets runny. Hope she gets back to normal soon, but when they are in heat they can act so different:) </IMG> |
Was the bloody stool firm, diarrhea, or mucousy? |
Blood in the stool could be so many things. Can you ask the vet to hold the bill for awhile? Lethargy ius normal during heat but when is the last time she was in heat? |
Sort of inbetween diarhhea and mucousy. It just was just a small spot. maybe the size of a penny. |
Was this the first time she EVER had chicken and it resulted in this? If yes, don't giver her ANY more! Is she drinking water? Are her gums a nice pale pink/pink? If you have Pepto on hand, give her 1/2 tsp or so. Do you have a potato or canned potato? Give her some mashed potato with a bit of butter for flavoring and see if she will eat. You want her to eat something: carby, bland, easy, absorbing. |
If it doesn't clear I would guess Coccidia. A parasite that has to be treated with meds from the vet. I would take a stool sample to the vet (it will be cheaper than a visit.) |

We have a little bit of one of her antibiotics left from the last time she had a UTI. And Now she's thrown up as well and it was very yellow. |
So before this, it sounds like she was having lack of appetite leading up to all of this (the giving of the chicken), along with her heat - is that right? How old is she? How LONG has her appetite been down? When was her last normal poo? |
she had not been eating well since she went into heat about 15 days ago,she would eat one day then not the next, this is her frist heat cycle she is 8 months old.Her pooh has been ok until today and this is the second time she has pooh,Also threw up just a few minutes ago I gave her a dose of antibontics thatI has from pass, have fixed her chicken and rice but she has not touched it yet |
last normal pooh was yesterday. |
Different antibiotics are used for different things and if you only give a few doses it could result in resistance. Please only give them under the instruction of a vet. |
so I should not give her anymore ogf them?? |
If she has bloody diahrea and vomiting she needs to be seen by a vet. I am sorry I know thats not what you want to hear |

She needs to be seen. Has she had ALL her shots? Please get ahold of a vet that will hold a bill. Praying for your baby. |
Some antibiotics (such as Clavamox) are only good for about 2 weeks after being prepared. Most liquid antibiotics should not be kept around due to their short 'shelf life'. Have you taken her temp? |

ok,I got her to eat some rice and chicken maybe about 4 to 5 tablespoons full,if that, she is keeping it in so far. Got to go help my mom get a bath.Be back soon,If you can think of anything else let me know. "No" I am not leaving her alone, hubby and girls are here,,, and well my mom is only 1/4 of a mile up my driveway.:( |
1 Attachment(s) Forgot to THANK YOU ALL for the HELP!! MUCH LOVE Regina & Bella |
Please - DON'T give antibiotics. Antibiotics are specific for certain bacteria - and don't work for viruses at all. Also, they can make dogs sick to their tummies. So: she hasn't been eating well for 15 days and has now had a bloody poo and has vomited and will not eat --- unfortunately, in terms of finances, you do need to take her to the VET, right away. |
blood bright or like coffee grinds i am a lab tech in a hospital is the blood blood red or black tarry like does it smell like warm blood if so she is having an internal bleed of some sort if it is blood red and not getting worse she just had something go through her system possibly if the blood is dark, tar like or coffee grounds like and has warm blood smell she needs to see a vet NOW |
OMG, she's ADORABLE!!! Love her color! :) |
