Cut on Bottom of Paw Hi, My Yorkie is constantly licking his rear left paw and has almost the entire paw in his mouth. When I inspected it, there is a small cut on his paw, not on the pad but the small slots between each pad. What can I do to help ease the pain and have him heal faster. It is just a small cut but causing him discomfort. Thank you in advance. |
I haven't had that happen yet... so I do not know exactly what to tell you... but I know someone here will know what to do. Hope your baby gets better soon. hugs. |
I had my Teddy get a stickery leaf stuck between the pads. It caused a cut and was irritated. I put some vasiline then bitter apple so he would quit chewing it. It healed really quickly after that. |
Here is info on Bitter Apple: Grannick Bitter Apple is the old favorite-safe and effective bitter tasting spray for most surfaces. Colorless. Spray in on the sufaces you want to protect-indispensible with puppies. Dogs and cats hate the taste. Can also be used on wounds and bandages to prevent chewing and worrying. Here is a link to get it: Bitter Apple |
Winston stepped on the groomers scissors once and cut the bottom of his paw. All we did was clean it daily with rubbing alcohol and we made sure after he went outside we'd clean it again. |
You don't want to put anything on it that will sting when the sore/cut is open - there are a lot of nerves in the area. We always use Neosporin (or any antibiotic ointment) - put a glob on a qtip and squish it into the area at least twice a day - you'll be surprised how quick it heals up. :) |
Could it be "cracking" from being dry? |
