Not a Yorkie, but a sick baby My Chi was kinda slow last night, right before we went to bed she threw up one time. Today she is really slow and I boiled her some chicken & she ate a few bites of that but didn't want anymore. She is almost 3 months old & weighs a little over 2 lbs. She hasn't had any diarrhea. Any suggestions on something I can give her? The vet is closed until Monday because of the holiday :( Thanks! |
Have you taken her temperature? Check her gums...if they are tacky or dry...that's a sign of dehydration. If they aren't pink...a sign of an infection. If she is acting lethergic...I'd take her to the ER vet. She's awfully small and you probably shouldn't wait. |
hope she gets better soon |
I would give her some "pedialite" with an eye dropper... |
I've found that peanut butter will calm the stomach down. That's what they told me to give my grandma's dog when I was dogsitting it. She was throwing up and had liquid poo. It settled her stomach and stopped her up. :] |
Thanks for everyone's replies. Her temp is fine, 100.2, gums are not sticky feeling & are nice and pink, she hasn't thrown up anymore & she hasn't had any runny poops, she's just laying around. I guess she's feeling slow from being sick last night. I will keep an eye on her and will get her to the emergency vet if I need to. Thanks again, hope everyone is having a nice 4th |

Give her some NutriCal. Nutri-Cal Puppy : Target |
Hey everyone I took her to the vet and it wasn't news that I wanted to hear. She tested positive for parvo. I really don't know how she could have gotten this, I haven't let her outside yet because she hasn't had all of her shots. The only thing I can think of is last week when she went in for her shots there was a very sick dog at the vet's office, I'm not sure what he had but they were doing all kinds of tests on him. He was put on the scale and then they put my baby on the scale to weigh her. The vet thinks that we caught it in time because he said she doesn't seem to be very sick, he gave her some medicines & some fluids and gave me some subq fluids to administer at home. I have to take her to the emergency vet if she gets worse. |
Poor baby, I am sorry to hear this. The good news is you know what the cause is, as does the vet, and you have started treatment. I hope the poor baby gets to feeling better. I'm sorry :( Keep us updated. Prayers for the pooch :hands: |
Thanks so much. I'm so upset over this I'm actually sick. The more I keep reading about it online the worse I feel. Anyone know if there is good survival rate for parvo? She was born 4/6/08, she's too young to be so sick. The thing I worry about the most is my daughter, she wanted a Chi and she loves her so much. |
I was just reading more on the internet about parvo. She just had her vaccines last Friday and something I read said that they can test positive if it's been within 3-14 days of vaccinations. The vet said she did look really well for a puppy with parvo. I just pray she will make it through this okay. If anyone has any info or experience with it please share. |
