A chihuahua at my shelter died today. She had no prior problems or symptoms until today. We came in and it was horrific! Blood was everywhere and she couldn't stand up. We took her to the vet and they did tests. They said it ws from toxic poisoning. She did not go outside and had no access to any poison. We had been feeding Pro Plan dogfood. Some of the other dogs had diarrhea a few days before today. Also a husky/collie mix died yesterday after being neutered. We think it was the food. If you feed Pro Plan I would be cautious!

Yes, I am serious. Here are pictures of Pepper and Aqua. Pepper is the chihuahua. We are pretty upset and have had a really awful last few days. We have had Pepper for about 3 months. We get attached to the animals and sometimes cry when they get adopted. But this is just awful! Please say a prayer for them.

that is so sad..sending prayers their way...hugs to you and everyone else that held a special place in your heart for them..

That is so awful to hear. Have you contacted Purina or the FDA about this? Seems like they would be interested to hear of this and, coming from a shelter, you'd think they'd pay attention. Do you still have the bags so you can get the info off them? This should be looked in to.

No we don't have the bags. But we want to get the food tested. We are going to do it next week if we find some place to send it.

This dog probably needs a necropsy and then report to the FDA.
How sad.:(

You could visit the Itchmo Forums and ask if any of them have had problems with this food. They are up on all of the recalls...
