Possible second eye infection- question I have a feeling Layla is getting ANOTHER eye infection - just had one last month... I still have the meds from the last one.. can i just use them again or should she see her vet? We didn't see OUR vet with the last one because she had seminars all day the day we needed to be seen.. but the ointment the vet we saw gave us seemed to work... shoudl i start with that and see if it goes away? |
No, you should see her vet. Some of that has antibiotic in it and you really do need to do it under the supervision of a vet. Something more serious could be going on also (I have no idea what...just a thought). What did the vet give you last time? Did the pink and discharge clear up? Was it in one or both eyes? What are her symptoms this time? The vet may have you use what you have but she may need something stronger, maybe??? |
Marci....when Moose had an eye infection a few months ago, I took him to the vet. He gave us antibiotic ointment to use. My vet said the meds were good to have on hand if he got another infection it would be ok us use. I think I would just call your vet and ask if they think it would be ok to use it again! :animal-pa |

Last time she had soemthing called BNP- there were two tubes, one we were supposed to use for one week and then the other one for the second week. Her eye COMPLETELY cleared up and today it is back to being slightly pink but she has a bit of green discharge. She has clear discharge every morning but this has been all day, although just a small amount. It was only in her one eye but we treated both. |

Since you finished the meds less than a week or two ago, something isn't right. If you go to the vet and they can't decide what to give, you might want to try Neopolydex. It is what Ellie's vet uses and it worked well for us. I think it is more of an off-label thing for dogs though, so I'm not sure you can get it there. Ellie's conjunctivitis was bacterial. |
