i'm sorry Mika has mammary gland tumors (MGT). We actually did surgery on a chihuahua two days ago with this problem. the surgeon removed the tumors and sent them out to be biopsied, and he also spayed her at the same time. the Chi was 10 years old and did great. I think Mika should have the surgery. It is completely necessary so the tumors can be analyzed to see if she has the dreaded C... a fine needle aspirate cannot tell you for sure if it is or isn't. Good Luck! I'm sure she'll do just fine! |
Does getting a dog spayed help prevent tumors? :aimeeyork |
I'm sorry and wish you and your family well... Please keep us updated. I have heard certain types of cancer are prevented if the dog is neutered... I worry about Romeo, he's not neutered... |
My Mini Schnauzer Phoebe had a tumor on her flank. It was removed at about the same age as Mika. Phoebe did fine. It did turn out to be cancerous. (the kind that returns but doesn't spread to organs).I have the name of the tumor in my records. Some sort of Sarcoma? Here we are over 2 years later and it is not back. Good luck. |
