Loose stool for both! We have had Mimi for 2 and 1/2 weeks now. All has been fine with her poo. Last week (at the two week anniversary) I put "PetzLife" on her teeth. The next am she had very loose stool. That night I put petzlife on her teeth again, and I also put some on Moose's teeth. He woke up the next morning with very loose stool. I am not sure if it was from the petzlife or not. I called my vet and they said they have never heard of "petzLife". I have stopped using it until all clears up. But they BOTH have had very loose stool for 4 to 5 days now. (They are going about every 2 hrs!) They are both eating Innova adult food. Their appetite is great, playing fine. I am going to call my vet tomorrow am to check in. Do you think I should change their diet today? :animal-pa |
I would ask your vet, but with my two girls when they get the squirts, I take in a stool sample and get it checked for parasites. I put them on a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken and rice or pasta until the stools are normal for 24 hours, then reintroduce the regular diet. Changing to a different brand of commercial food right now may upset their digestive tracts even more. |
Linda, I've used Petzlife on 4 of mine and haven't had the loose stools. Which kind did you use, (Salmon or regular) was it the spray or gel, and how many days have they been off it? I agree about taking the stool samples in to the vet, maybe it is a coincidence and something else is going on. If you only gave it to Moose ( April sends kisses, by the way :p), one time, it seems unlikely that he should have the loose stools for that long? Hope you get this figured out. ps, I love your new avatar!!! :) |
Oh sorry. Hopefully the vet will have some answers. I think I'd put them on rice diet. big hugs |

I agree with the others on this...try the canned pumpkin and take samples into your vet. I really can't see that the Petzlife can give the runs..but who knows. Could be parasites but I would rather be safe than sorry. Maybe Mimi had something and passed it on to Moose? Never know. Keep us posted. Give each of them a couple tablespoons of nonfat vanilla yogurt or the plain for breakfast and the pumpkin and see how they are. I just switched Izzy to The Honest Kitchen (raw freeze dried) for dinner and the yogurt for breakfast and she is doing great. |
Sorry to hear that, but Cali had had loose stools on and off for the past week or so and I started using Petzlife on her as well as the other 2, They have been fine, but I used it last night on Cali and she had really bad diahrrea just now. I wonder if it could be the Petzlife not agreeing with them. WOnder if anyone else has had this problem. |

There has been a stomach type virus going around maybe yours got it? Mia was sick for 3 days then Cody for one day then Mia again and now Snoopy. I have a few friends also that their furbutts have the same thing and they don't live in the area. |
Hey Linda, Just checking in to see how they are doing today? Did the chicken and rice help? Hugs to M and M from us!! |
Thanks for asking MaryKay, but no the chicken and rice hasn't helped. I called the vet this am. They didn't get back to me until this afternoon and we have appointment with the vet tomorrow afternoon. They also want me to bring in a stool sample for both. The bummer is...my vet is out of town.....Family emergency.:( so it is a "fill in vet". I love and trust OUR vet, we will see how tomorrow goes. Hopefully we will know tomorrow what is going on. I only Hope all is ok! :animal-pa |

We'll be thinking of you guys today. come back and let us know, k' Hope everything checks out ok. I know what you mean about the fill-in vet! Once you find one you like and knows your babies, it sucks to have to use another. I've had that happen a couple times, but it worked out ok. I'm sure the fill in is one that your vet trusts. Huggles and snuggles to all of you guys :):) |
We just got back from the vet. Yep.....they have diarrhea! Actually, they are both better today but still went to vet. She said to continue the chicken and rice until everything is "firm". Then gradually add back in their kibble. Mimi's fecal exam was clear. Moose didn't go today yet (which is good) but not test could be done. She also said to get Imodium AD and give it to them if they still have loose stool. So....I guess its.....a bug  of some sort! But this is good! :D Thanks for everyones concerns and ideas. :animal-pa:animal-pa |
Thats good her stool sample was clear  Hopefully a little more time on the yummy chicken and rice, and they'll be back to nice little tootsie rolls in no time!! Maybe it is just a bug, still curious about the petzlife? Are you going to try it again after they clear up? Either way, I'm happy they are doing better!!! :):) |
Glad they are going to be ok! Be sure that your guys are drinking plenty of water too:aimeeyork |
Glad to hear the "kids" are getting better. I keep a can of pumpkin in the pantry for emergencies. You can also place in ice tray, freeze and then place pumpkins cubes in freezer bag for future. One cube is usually divided into 2 portions for Charlie. Gently reheat in microwave. Settles their tummies down rapidly. Warmly, Deborah |
