Jac had a Seizure I was on my way home from work when my husband called me and told me that jac wasnt acting right. He was wobbling and throwing up and couldnt stand up at all. I sped home to take him the the vet emergency room, they said jac had a seizure. Hes walking now but still very crooked and he doesnt look at you anymore his eyes move around when he trys to focus. If you pick him up he just lays there in your arms and puts his nose as close to your face as he can. Help, had anyones yorkie recovered from this? :cry: I dont know what to do i can't stop crying |
I am so sorry to hear your baby had a seizure. I have not had any experience with that in my dogs. I would recommend you talk to your regular vet about it on Monday. I pray your baby will make a speedy recovery. I know how much it hurts you to see him like this. (((hugs))) |
I want to add that one of my yorkies did get hurt one time from a fall from the couch and he was paralyzed on one side and walked crooked for awhile. The vet gave him a shot and some meds and he made a complete recovery but I can tell that is does have some weakness on his right side but most people would not be able to tell. It is possible your boy took a fall and injured his neck or spine. Did the vet do any x-rays or give him any medicines? |
vet I would google seizures in Yorkies and find out what causes and the treatment for this... this would be the only thing that would calm me down until I could talk deeply with the vet...If it were my dog.. I would try not to leave him unattended until I got to the bottom of the situation. I would put in sick leave for monday...they know how I am about my animals...they are my family... I would just try to make him comfortable as I would do a human. I would make sure their place is safe... I think that would be all I could do at the moment until I could research in depth about this illness:umbrella: |
Puppies don't have seizures for no reason. It's a symptom...whether the seizure was induced by a physical injury or is neurological. If you can eliminate an injury....further testing would be necessary to determine the cause. Liver shunt and hydrocephalus can cause seizures. I'm sorry. I know it must be very hard to see him like this. Hope you can determine the cause so Jac will be on his way to recovery. |
How old is Jac? Like bchgirl said, seizures usually happen for a reason, and if a physical injury did not occur, the first thing that should be ruled out is a liver disorder like liver shunt...This requires a bile acid test which is fairly inexpensive ($45-$100 depending on where you live) and requires a blood draw before a meal and two hours after a meal. No fast is required. |
