signs parvo is gone
 
some of you might know, my baby lexi has parvo..
i know she wont be getting better anytime soon, but i was wondering... what are the signs of improvement?? signs that show normalcy?
the vet said we got her in treatment very early.. shes been there two nights and two days and she showing really good signs of improvement. shes eating and holding it in, no diahhrea, normal glucose...
maybe shes a trooper and is pressing through this faster than ever.
anyway.. i was just curious

I would say the vet would re-test a stool samble to determine if the virus has been eliminated.

the vet needs to check her titre, run A blood test. :aimeeyork Ask for this specific test to be preformed. :aimeeyork It will show how well your pup will do in a enviroment that has been exposed to parvo.

When I first read about Lexi I became even more protective (if that is possible! ) of my now 9 week old baby Miss Rosie.

Yeah, cause I've read the Parvo virus can be active in an area for up to 6 months. Good Luck with your baby Lexi. Godspeed recovery.

Were you able to sanitize your car before bringing her home?
I would try to keep her in the areas that you were able to bleach.

I've been saying prayers for you and little Lexi. :hug:

Are we talking stainless steel clean?
 
is spraying with Lysol and disinfectants with chlorine good enough and wiping down all surfaces where the pup had been or walked and how long does this kind of virus live on a dry surface? Oust Lysol etc.

My son was so nervous when our little puppy had coccidia he vacuumed all carpets where the puppy had walked then he shampooed these areas before he went to bed that night. He was so worried our pregnant dog would catch something and pass it on to her pups.
It was great getting him to be so productive. I wish it was for another reason though.

Signs of recovery would be like you said - no nausea, keeping down food, normal eating/drinking, stable electrolyte levels and white blood cell count.

Parvo CAN live for up to 6 months inside a home but if you've bleached as much as you can, it's not likely that he will contract the virus again. From what I understand, once they have the infection, it is likely that they have a lifelong immunity. I would still get the boosters but I wouldn't worry too much!

Just make sure to pick up all poop right away - the virus is shed quite heavily in the stool, and I would consider him contagious for about a month.

So glad to hear she's doing better! Parvo is so rough.. I knew I almost died when Franklin had it.
