thanks for keeping us updated...hehe |
Wow, it has been a while, but I thought I'd update, in case anyone is out there wondering. Zaccheus is doing fabulously. He was neutered just before his six month birthday, but only because I had a female come into heat, and I didn't want any surprises. He did fine, and I'm kicking myself for not having his extra teeth removed while he was under. We took him to NY over Thanksgiving to visit my in-laws. They fell in love with him, of course. I left the girls here with family, but he has the potential to go downhill quickly, so I took him along with an antibiotic, just in case. We didn't need it, but I wanted to be prepared, so we didn't end up in an emergency clinic on vacation if he picked up a sinus infection. That's pretty much our only worry, at this point. I have to clean out his cleft occasionally, but he is outgrowing the puppy chewing-on-everything stage. He eats only dry food, with a little bit of treat when he is a good boy outside, and drinks water from a bottle which hangs on his kennel. He currently weighs about 5.5 to 6 lbs. I never thought he'd get this big. but I think this is his final size. I love him to pieces, and since we had to rehome Roxy, he and Cricket have gotten very close. He is very much a daddy's boy. I have literally been the one to keep him alive, but when daddy comes home, I don't even exist. I think that's adorable. |
Well, Zaccheus lovers, you will be happy to know that he is doing very well, still. We decided long ago not to have surgery on Zacchie's cleft palate. He is still the lively little brat he was the last time I posted. I never have to clean out his mouth any more. he eats and drinks just fine. A hanging water bottle is on his kennel, but he also drinks out of Cricket's bowl when he wants to. (or my glass, or someone's cup...) For some reason he gets away with most everything. :-) |
