Roxy's BAT results For those that have been there, we all hope that the next BAT is gonna be really low :( and boy did I pray and pray, but I guess I have to face the facts.....Roxy's BAT is not going to get low b/c she probably does have MVD :( Here are her post numbers so far (over the last year) 100.9 67 62.4 85.2 (got the results today) My Vet said she is doing great though. I asked how often I should test now and he said 1x a year  - I said REALLY  - He said she is doing good. I said her post # went up though from 60 something to 80 something :( - He said to him 65 to 85 is the same range. So I said I will test her every 6 months, I said I don't want to all of a sudden get some freaky high # - He laughed and said ok ;) So that's where we are at..... But now that I have a handful of BAT #s I am contacting a nutritionist at Cornell University. I want to make sure that what I am doing for her is benefiting her and not harming her in any way. P.S. TJ's were: 43 21 3 17 (results today) So TJ is officially CLEAR in my mind. Although I may BAT him every year just to be sure  Thanks for listening and being there for me and my gang :D |
:aimeeyork I am so sorry. I think it is good that you have found out and have a handle on it. Your yorkie baby is lucky to have such a good mom:animal-pa Did you have to put her on a special diet to help with numbers? :aimeeyork Are they any other signs that she is not feeling well? :aimeeyork |
Thanks. I hate that my baby girl is sick, but I am thankful that we can control and help her with a special low, but quality protein diet and supplements to aid the liver :( |
SHE is such a lucky little baby Yorkie.:aimeeyork I am glad you have her and can meet her needs. :animal-pa |
Oh...I'm sorry, Nicole!! But it sounds like she's doing really well. You are such a great mom to both of them!! Let me know how the consult with the nutritionist at Cornell goes. Are her liver values ever elevated from the blood panels that you've had done? |

We have done blood panels before her LP surgeries and nothing was out of the norm. When I went to the specialist for the U/S they did a complete blood panel and coagulation and again, nothing was out of the norm. So without do a biopsy and only going by the BAT - Both her Vet and Internal Medicine Specialist feel she probably has MVD. I am upset the numbers went up, I tried so hard to schedule it soooooooooooo far away from anything that could interfere, but I guess it is, what it is. Although I have up'd her protein intake a tad, b/c she was doing so well, maybe that isn't good  I'll let you know how the consult goes ;) |
I'm sure you'll keep her happy and healthy Nicole! She's lucky you're her Mommy. |

You are the greatest mommy...And the greatest (aside from Dana) daughter...I love you...And you know our prayers are with Roxy and TJ...Roxy and TJ are very lucky to have you, and you to have them...:wavey::kiss2wm::kiss2wm::kiss2wm::wub::hug ::hearts-xx:angel2::luv:: I tried to use more icons, but it came back and said I could only use 10...! |

...always love the icons, they put a BIG smile on my face ;) |
I will pray Roxy remains healthy and test results go back down. |
I'm sorry you didn't get better news.:( Since you have chosen to not go any further with other testing and if it is MVD the numbers won't go down, why do you want another BAT? I'm just curious because Ellie's were 106 last time but we have stopped BATing for now because in the vet's words, "They're just scaring us anyway".:) There is nothing that can be done unless I want to try one more med and no diagnosis can be reached. Maybe I will redue it in a few months but for Ellie it doesn't seem worth it. Because Ellie's was 106 I still have to wonder if they missed something on the U/S and there is a shunt there. I would wonder the same for Roxy. I also am very suspicious that vaccines take a lot longer than a week or two to get out of the system because Ellie's number went up to 106 so fast. It was 45 days later but I'm not convinced it wasn't from that. I want to do a Protein C test but aren't there doubts about that right now? Did you do one? Is Roxy on Denosyl? No Lactulose, right? |

As far as vaccines, she last had them last year, and her intercepter and frontline were given a month ago or longer. The only thing I can think of that may have made her number go up was either the fact that I had been giving her Childrens Benedryl for her itching like crazy OR I had been giving her a tad more daily protein. Protein C - I still haven't gotten a definite answer as to wether a Protein C and a Coagulation test are one in the same  - if YES - then YES she did have the coagulation done when we went to the specialist. Nothing out of the norm. Roxy was on Flagly and Lactuloses for 10 days (after her U/S) but I saw NO difference in her behavior, not even the slightest, so her specialist said she doesn't need it. No Denosyl either. |
A Protein C test and coagulation profile are different I think. I give Ellie Denosyl because it can't hurt her and at least I feel like I might be helping. |
