Need Help Immediately. Abbey is sick. She was acting really weird just now, trying to get close to me and acting funny. Then she threw up twice. Now she is breathing really funny like inhaling and exhaling a lot. Her gums and tongue are STARK white. Her vet is closed. Please help me, please tlel me what to do. She is acting so weird, won't even stand for a long time. |
Get to an emergency vet clinic now. Don't wait. Breathing problems are serious and so are white gums. |
Go to the ER. White gums are a serious emergency. She isn't oxygenating her blood properly for some reason (or maybe anemia or blood loss or shock). Please do not wait. |
Does she have a temperature ? Os she overheated ? Did she get into something ? Give her some water and cool her off ... give her some nutrical to see if it helps it cant hurt and call an emergency vet if it does not resolve. |
Ok she just vomitted two more times for a total of four. I am SO worried...her gums are the same color as her teeth. |
oh dear... praying for you. Have you tried any karo syrup or honey yet? Get to the ER quickly! Go go go! |
Call the emergency number for your vet. If they are closed they still have an emergency number or an answering service that can contact your vet immediately. Do it now! This could be very serious. Your baby is too precious to not call. Do it now! |
I just called 3 vets at their emergency number and none answered. She seems to be getting better. No more vomitting but still just wants to lie down. Her gums are looking better too... She is very hot though. It may just be bc she ate a lot and then my BF took her outside and she was running around and got too worked up... I'm gonna try to call the vet again... |
Good idea to keep trying the vet. Hopefully she will be just fine. Keep us posted, we are all worried about her. |
Just read this!! Hoping Abbey is ok.......pls keep us posted. |
PLease keep trying to call the vet emergency number, she could still relapse. I hop she is drinking plenty of water. THis is very scary, and I am glad she is feeling a little better. I hate it when these things happen on a weekend! :animal-pa |
With her gums being all white AND her tongue plus the vomiting and not wanting to stand on her own, this is life threatening, she needs to go to the vet or an ER vet, I'd get here there now if you're able. Sending prayers that your lil one will make it. |

How is she now, I hope you are not answering this post and that you are at the vet currently and she is okay. Good luck hon, sending hugs and thoughts your way sweetie.... |
I am hoping you got her in to a vet, My pom got heat stroke at the groomers, I went to pick her up and she was breathing really funny and gums were white. Itook her immediatley to the vet who put her in an oxygen chamber and on a cooling blanket. Her temp was way over normal. She would have died had I not picked her up when I did and get her immediatley to the vet, Praying your baby will be ok. |
OK I finally got a hold of an emergency vet and they gave us some instruction of what to do... Right as I was going to rush her out the door to the vet she stood up from where she was laying, jumped off the couch, and began viciously playing with a toy and running all over... Aye, it was quite a scare for me as you could imagine...she seems fine now, like nothing even happened. She drank a lot of water and I have been checking her gums every few minutes and they are normal bright pink. She is playful and responsive. I really think it could have been heat stroke. She came in from outside and was super hot to the touch, breathing heavily, and then the vomitting. I just think it was too much play in too much heat (it's over 100 degrees here today.) I put a wet rag on her and got her to drink some. Sorry to cause such a scare but I was terrified and my first though (besides the vet) was to post on YT bc last time Abs got sick I got better advice here then from the vet! Sigh...I am so relieved. Thanks everyone for the concern!!! It means so much to me. It does seem these things always happen on weekends... Thank you all! I will contiue to monitor her throughout the day... |
Get her to the emergency vet immediatly. Even if she does seem to be getting better. Do not take ANY chances! You haven't answered in a while so hopefully you have already gone! We are praying for her!! (And you!) |
Well thanks god! You must have been posting right when I was!! Keep a close eye on her throughout the day. I would also DEF give her some nutrical!! WHEEEEEW scary!!! |

We have to support each other!! :animal-pa:animal-pa |
I read that not only do our pets not sweat (and sweating helps us cool down) but Yorkies cannot handle heat. It sounds like heat stroke. We all need to be careful with our Yorkies this summer. I always take water outside with me when I let Logan play outdoors for awhile. But I don't keep him out too long. I think this is a wake-up call for all of us. |
