Mvd I took Logan to get neutered today. Since his last bile acids post-meal test was still slightly elevated, the vet recommended that Logan be given IV fluids during and after the surgery to help flush out the toxins. She said that even though his bile acids test is better, there is still obviously a problem. She said it could be MVD and said that his life may be shorter than normal. Anyone have any experience with this? |

A dog who is asyptomatic will do well as long as you're always mindful of the types of foods he eats and follow the proper protocol and avoid certain meds. Just because a dog is asymptomatic does not mean he can't become symptomatic later on. If wrong foods are given and certain guidelines are not followed, the liver problem can progress, cause damage and symptoms. It sounds like your dog has more mild MVD, so that's a great thing as far as life expectancy goes! :) I'm sure Logan will live a long and happy life. |
Cali has very mild MVD diagnosed by BA and liver biopsy. She has no diet restrictions and no meds but I watch jer protein intake. Watch for bones and treats they can be high in protein. Hopefully Logan will do fine and live a long life. |
