Cold? Bronchitis? Tracheal collapse??!! I'm concerned about my new puppy (9 weeks old). He has a constant runny nose and over the past 2 days he began sneezing and then just tonight he started coughing with a gag at the end of the cough. He has a free vet visit tomorrow and I'm wondering if anybody has any ideas as to what the problem could be. I am staying up tonight with him to ensure he is okay... I'm going to the vet as soon as they open this morning. 9am. I'm really hoping he is ok... Poor baby... I'm really worried.:confused::confused: |
Update Seeing as I'm a first time mommy of a dog I finally thought to look up kennel cough. Well his symptoms match that to a T, so I'm relieved. I'll still stay up with him tonight then go to the vet at 9am as planned. I'll keep this thread updated with his diagnosis. HUGS Brittany and Bentley:aimeeyork |
Phew! Kennel Cough it is. My baby is 1.9 pounds. Awww. Yes he has kennel cough and the vet prescribed amoxicillin .3 cc twice a day. Brittany and Bentley:aimeeyork |
OOOOH! Let me know what happens with your baby! Lily was EXACTLY the same way when we got her at 6 weeks (young I know!!)--she's 12 weeks now and the cough is still hanging around. Been to the vet several times already. We've done two rounds of Clavomox, tried Primor but had a bad reaction to it, and now we're waiting it out again. :( Try a vaporizer beside him at night... that did seem to help Lily for a bit. I'm thinking about going back for a 2nd opinion from another vet. Is your little one eating and drinking and playing okay? I'm also trying to give her a tsp. of plain yogurt a day now too so all her "good bacteria" isn't being wiped out with the antibiotic. I've heard all kinds of things on here... lots of good advice. Good luck! |

So at least I know now that 70 deg is not acceptable. :/ Guess I'll have to use a fan. I get hot a lot. :P I will update everyone with his progress with the cough. HUGS! Brittany and Bentley:aimeeyork |

Haha! Oh, the things we do for these babies!! Keep us updated! :D |
I am wondering now that these little guys' have kennel cough, does the vaccine not help ? Suzi just got it, and it is only a spray the vet uses in her nose.:aimeeyork |

Mine too My baby boy is now 15 weeks and still has this cough. He had an upper resp. infection when we brought him home. He was put on an antibiotic then later switched because he got worse and got walking pnemonia. After switching him to a different antibiotic he is getting better however he still has this yucky nasty cough with the gagging afterwards. Help!! We have been to the vet 5 times in the short time we have had him. |
