Sick Pitbulls i know this is a yorkie forum but i have a pitbull and 3 days ago he sounded like he was coughing but really bad then he would start gagging but not throw up. he is been like that for 3 days now and last night my other pit started doing the same thing til today now my yorkie is coughing but not gagging can someone help me? im really nervous and scared:confused: |
I would take them into the vet for an exam...maybe check for tonsilitis or a respiratory infection. They made need to take antibiotics to clear it up. |

It sounds to me like they all have kennel cough. If it is kennel cough it will take about 3 weeks for them to get over it. |

I was also going to say it sounds like Kennel cough. Kennel cough is incredible contagious in dogs, so keep them away from any other dogs that they might come in contact with. Take them to the vet immedietly, and they'll probably have to take some antibiotics. |
It's going to run it's course. If you take him to the vet, they'll give him an antibiotic to prevent pneumonia. |
i read from another thread to use robitussin is that bad? im really worried they said to put them in the bathroom and humidify it.... hmmm help |

They NEED to go to the vet. If it is Kennel Cough, your babies are in for several weeks of misery, even common Kennel Cough can develop complications and become very serious. As a pet owner, it is your responsibility to take care of their health needs even if it requires expensive vet visits - that's all part of owning a pet. |

Everyone is trying to help. They need to go to a vet. Just take one and they can give you meds for all three. Or call your local humane society and ask them for help. You might be doing your best but if the animals need vet care you need to find a way to get it or get them to someone who can. You are on a board of animal lovers and if someone says they don't want to take their dog to a vet it will not go over well! |

its cool the dogs are better now my boyfriends dad is this big animal guy and he got this antibiotic from a vet and its the same antibiotic that they prescribe for kennel cough. we did it last night and dude it worked right away no more gaging cough a lil but it says 3-4 more shots/days plus i did the humidifier thing lymph nodes are not swollen anymore..... i know people are animal lovers here but people that need help need help not be picked on or clowned on. i dont. |
