Heart is aching-Had to put my Princess Down I posted the first time early in the week. My Tilly was putting in a good fight against 2 severe bacterial in he kidneys. She spent a week in the hospital on a catheter with fluid pump. She was making progress and my vet took her home for the weekend to treat her. Saturday morning she was fine and then in the afternoon had 2 seizures. We all concluded that her blood sugar crashed because she was not eating except for a couple of forced syringes a day. Her BUN and other tests were looking good, so She came home to us on Monday. She was so happy that she barked with the other two at the dogs next door.I had to coth her in the morning and at night and she was home with us and things were going great. She ate a 1/4 can of food both days. Then while I was at work on Wednesday my wife called. Dilly started shaking and had bloody poop and vomiting bile. Then her left rear leg quit working. I rushed home (80 miles) and called my vet at home. She told me to bring her to her place. That was another 50 miles. I could not bare to see her suffer more, so my vet put her down in her house. She started crying and had to leave the room. My Princess Dilly had got to her and she became quite attached. I am heart broken and my vet was also. What a saint she is. Dilly was calm and not scared. I feel blessed that we dot to spend the last two days with her. I couldn't go to work today and my wife and I are exhausted. This was the toughest 10 days of my life. |
I am so sorry to read about sweet Tilly. The pain you are suffering is great, and bless you for helping her "Cross the Rainbow Bridge". Sounds like she gathered enough energy to come home, say goodbye and couldn't fight anymore. Keep writing and again, I am so sorry for your loss. Warmly, Deborah |
Thanks very much What made it worse was seeing my vet break down and had to leave the room. She tried everything and fell in love with her. She is such a wonderful person. Even her husband helped treat her while she was at her home. She has been treating her for over a year for lymphanactasia. She was a little fighter and a tough little dog. My other two have been licking my face a lot today. |
Oh, I'm so sorry. It is so difficult to make that decision. We'll be keeping you and your family in our thoughts and prayers. |
so here sits a 54 year old man with a broken heart. This dog just turned me into a total wimp! |

I am so sorry this happened, I think this is the most difficult part of pet ownership. Sending prayers your way, and I wish you the best. |
I am so sorry to hear about little princess/. I was hoping for good news. She put up a good fight and you did everything you could and in the end made the most difficult decision to let her go in peace. |
Thanks you guys. |
I am just reading this. I am so sorry. That is such a hard decision to make. Your vet sounds wonderful and I am sure your sweet Tilly knew she was loved very much. |
I\'m so sorry your little one lost her fight. I\'m sure she is happy and healthy at Rainbow Bridge and enjoying herself. She will wait for you as long as it takes. |
