I really need advice I don't want to do the wrong thing. I posted a couple of days ago about my baby Charlie "anybody else dealing with arthritis" and no one even offered their opinion so your not dealing with the situation what would you do if you were me. Please find my old post and read the story it's to much to repost and please let me know what you would do?

I my self would just watch him and get a second opinion before any surgery is done,i have no experience in this and i hope someone that has will help you.
It just scares me when thay mention surgey on these little babies there so little and i know i would feel better with my baby being checked twice before i would put him through any surgey.

That is what I was thinking I'm scared to put my baby under anesthesia. Plus he still plays and runs he just doesn't jump anymore. Soooo confusing. I think I will definitely do that, I was thinking of sending his xrays to the University of Tennessee to see what they say if operating is the better option that is what I will go with but I just don't want any complications or for them to do the surgery and it just makes things worse. Thank you for your advice it is greatly appreciated.

I went back and read you original post and I am so sorry Charlie seems
to have arthritis. I have a girlfriend with a springer spaniel who had
arthritis in his hip, he was older the doctor gave him Glucosimine and Chrondin
(s) and he had relief for a couple of years until he passed of something else.
It rebuilds the tissue around the arthritis I believe. People take it also.
I was taking it for awhile for mine at times and it really did help.

I would try anything first before surgery. If that dosen't work then
surgery it should be. I would not want a young puppy on pain meds
forever. Good luck to you and Charlie.

I went back and read it too...I don't remember even seeing the post. :(

As I was reading it, my first thought was does he have luxating patella? Second op is something I would definitely do...and fast! 17 months seems very young to have arthritis?

That is exactly what I was thinking. There isn't even a sign of injury on the hip xray just a small section of something that looks white, but no fractur signs or broken bones signs that may have healed on it's own, that is why the doctor said it looks like he may have had a small injury and from constantly jumping he hurt it more. I am extra stressed out right now, my baby is too beautiful and such a good boy to have him going through pain or being on meds for the rest of his life, I'm sooo extra depressed.

Awww...we hurt when they hurt don't we?

We had a mixed breed dog who had an arthritic back...our vet told us to give her 1 johnson's baby aspirin every day. The orange chewable ones. It helped her a great deal...

Just wanted to let everybody know Charlie will be seeing an orthopedic specialist on Tuesday at 10:30 I will post and let you know what the specialist said.
