I am calling their customer support team tomorrow to ask about it and if it is safe to use on smaller dogs or what treatment options they do have for smaller dogs (if any). My Trial for This Month Well after much consideration and not being able to sleep last night, I've found what I am going to try for the next month for Yodi and his Demodectic Mange case. I went to the boutique in front of the groom shop I worked at and bought the Raw medallions, Wild Alaskan Salmon Oil, and Solid Gold Seameal. The owner is going to order the Life Exxtension for me as well. I then went to the store and bought Sesame Seed Oil and Low Fat Plain Yogurt (making sure it had Live & Active Cultures!). Here is what Yodi will be eating for Breakfast & dinner for the next forever unless it doesn't work. lol -One Raw Medallion (thawed for 15 seconds in the microwave) -One Tablespoon of plain yogurt -1/2 teaspoon of sesame oil -1/2 teaspoon salmon oil -1/8 teaspoon seameal and the Life Exxtension will be added once it comes in. I'm just convinced not to do the Mitaban dip now after reading and researching and finding all of the horrid side effects it can have! |

My only recommendation is be careful of too much oil. Upsets their tummy and then you are looking at loose bowels. Warmly, Deborah |

I think you are making a good choice except that I would not thaw the raw in the microwave. I would either just thaw it in the fridge overnite or in warm water. I have an older collie who had a bought with demodex mites. Collies can't be treated with the medications and it did resolve on it's own and I put her on raw shortly after and it hasn't come back. I hope this works for you - I know many people have been successful switching to raw. You may want to look into a prey model raw diet as well. Good luck! |

Hello again, again thank you all so much for your responses and support! We are going in tomorrow morning to see the vet and talk about a different course of treatment. I am also going to order some supplements online (next paycheck). However, you may be pleased to know dakota is doing much, much better. All her spots look like they have cleared up for the most part. Oh and I trimmed her for the first time! haha, My poor baby wasn't too happy to start with, but when it was all over she was thrilled to have most of her hair gone. I was mortified when it was over, I thought she was going to be so mad at me for trimming...well it was closer to shaving, her...but it is so hot where we live, she seemed happier and more active than before. Just thought I'd let you know I just got off the phone with PetsBestRX customer service and even though the bottle for the cream says for large dogs, it is for any size dog. It's just with the pack you get the bigger bottle that they label for large dogs rather than the smaller bottle. So it's just the quantity that's different, not the product. I really am thinking that next week when I get my next paycheck I pay have to order this stuff. It's worth a shot! |

lilbumbleybees - I am so happy you decided to do raw! There are a few other threads right now discussing this very same issue and the conclusion everyone seems to be coming to is a raw diet. I can not say enough good things about raw. Prepackaged raw meat should be purifying enough to start the detoxification process - don't be alarmed if she looks worse before she gets better. Rather then suppressing her symptoms, she will be expelling the toxins that are at the root of the symptoms, therefore most dogs go through a period of detoxification. The oils you mentioned are great - though I think the salmon oil would be enough - just be careful of too much, remember how tiny our Yorkies are!!:aimeeyork |

Hello everyone, sorry for not posting in a while...we were having some internet problems, but I think we got everything fixed. :) I just wanted to update everyone on how dakota is doing. She is doing great, all her red spots and what not are gone. Our vet called a specialist and she reccomended we do the Ivomec., so we have been doing that and return for a check up on July 2nd. I also switched her food to blue buffalo, which she loves by the way. She is eating more regularly now. I was wondering what these "raw" things are some of you have been talking about? We finally got our stimulus check in :D so I am going to order her some suplements from b-naturals.com. Hope everyone is doing good. Thank everyone again for your advice and support. It was nice to know we were not going through this alone. :) Have a wonderful weekend!! |
