Tell us more about him. Has it just started to happen? Or is it all the time? How old is he? (I don't want to assume, I call mine baby and he is four years old) How much does he weigh? If he is a puppy or tiny it's possible it could be hypoglycemia. HYPOGLYCEMIA (Neonatal or Juvenile in nature) Hypoglycemia is when the blood sugar levels (glucose) fall well below normal. Glucose is what the body uses as fuel and is necessary for the brain tissue and muscles to function. Hypoglycemia is often seen in toy breeds, and frequently in young toy puppies. It can cause your puppy to become confused, disoriented, drowsy, have the shivers, stagger about, collapse, fall into a coma, or have seizures. Typical signs are listlessness, depression, staggering gait, muscular weakness, and tremors -- especially of the face. Puppies with a severe drop in the blood sugar develop seizures or become stuporous and go into a coma. Some puppies may only exhibit weakness or a wobbly gait, and occasionally a puppy that seemed just fine is found in a coma. Most of the time the symptoms can be controlled by eating, or by giving some glucose such as Karo syrup mixed with water to the puppy. If the puppy is in a coma, don't try to get it to swallow anything. Dip your finger in Karo and rub it under the tongue then get to the vet immediately. If not treated, it can result in death. I hope he is ok. Definately like the above posters said, I would have him checked out by the vet and make sure he is eating. |

You should have him looked over by the vet. He/She would be able to tell you if there is anything wrong with your pup!! |
Follow your heart, it sound like you have loved the little fella from the moment he was born. Take him to the Vet and get him checked out. Tell your breeder that you are keeping him and are going to get him well again, and that YOU WANT A REFUND to PAY THE VET BILLS. There are Puppy Lemon Laws, I don't know what they are in your state, but I am sure that you are entitled to keep your pup and be refund either in full or at least partial. I hate to say this, but this breeder sounds awful and if you return the pup, he may either PTS or let him suffer :( (sad) Keep us posted :animal36 |
Does the breeder offer any health guarantee? Tell them you want to take him to your vet before you decide what you are going to do. Find out if anything is even wrong with him and, if so, how serious. That will give you a better idea of what to do next. TLC is right, Nevada does have the puppy lemon law but I don't know if it applies to a puppy that you don't own yet. The breeder might be able to say you took this puppy knowing it had health problems. So that is something you should look into first if you are going to go that route. I'm sorry you are going through this when you should be happy and excited about getting your new puppy. Good luck, I hope it turns out he is perfectly fine. |
Wobbly Legs!?!?!?!?! Well The breeder doesn't give a health garentee he is just telling me that I can get a different pup from the bunch:mad:!!! But I'm going to see if I can take the little guy to the vet!!!!:(:( |
Yes, tell the Breeder you will take him on the condition that you can have him examined by a vet first. If there is anything wrong with him, get an estimate of the cost to fix (if it can be fixed), and negotiate with the breeder for a reduction in the price of the dog -- as I think you have already made up your mind about taking him. Good luck. |
Good luck with the new baby boy...but get him checked by your Vet...ASAP. I hope that it is nothing serious and that what ever it may be it can be taken care of and that you are able to cope with it. Sounds like you have already fallen for this little guy...do what you can for him...soon. |
