Question about pumpkin?? Our vet told us once to use pumpkin when our baby appeared to be constipated. However, I have read on here to use it for diarrhea. I am confused.: We have problems with diarrhea frequently, but I don't know if I would use pumpkin now. Thoughts? |
From what I have experienced and read about on YT, pumpkin can be used for constipation or diarrhea in dogs. I've tried it for both reasons and it works. Just be sure to use the canned pumpkin NOT the pie filling. I usually freeze little patties of it on a plate then keep them in the freezer in a plastic bag until I need to defrost and mix one portion with food for my Yorkie. Less waste and you have them handy whenever needed. Its pretty tasteless and she eats it right down with her meal. |

It's a good idea to keep it on hand so you don't have to make a special trip to the store when someone is having a inconvenient day... :) |

I'm glad I found this post! I was just doing a quick search to hopefully answer my questions and the first one I looked at answered it all!:D We're having poo problems here today too:( |
Thanks for all the help. We get the tummy trouble occasionally, and I believe that it has to do with the fact that she had kidney failure as a very young puppy and we really don't know what percent of her kidneys are working. However, she is nearly 7 and wasn't suppose to live past 3 or 4. She is on Royal Canin, and we had her on a kidney diet when she was very young, along with weekly fluids, but she turned the corner and has done very well. We have to be very careful with anything that she may find in the environment though. |
I never knew it wasn't good to give your dogs frozen items...I always thought that it was more smoothing for them with teething, in the heat, etc.....so your saying that freezing my lil ones bones and giving here ice cubes during the summertime isn't good???? I'm confused :confused: |
