my baby went to the groomer's for the first time today my yorkie that is one went to the groomer's today for the first time, i only took her to have a bath and frontline put on her. I came home and as soon as i put her down she started throwing up, about 3 times, yellow foamy stuff. Then she went and layed down and was kinda breathing a lil harder and whimpering a little. I called the vet, and they told me to bring her on in, they gave her a shot for the vomiting and he said she should be fine it was maybe stress or just a sickness. She has thrown up in the past before but always acted fine afterward. I even tried to give her a treat and she wouldn't eat it, she never has passed up a treat before. She is still after the vet visit just laying around and kinda whimpering somewhat. What is wrong? |
Did she eat at all before going to the groomer? The yellow is probably stomach acid, meaning she's got an empty tummy. Oh and welcome to YT! |
You should call your groomer to be sure they didn't give her something to calm her before grooming Unfortunately some groomers drug them :( Deana Prestigeous Yorkies and 2 Maltese :) |
i am not sure if she ate or not before she went, i know i did put fresh food in her bowl this morning because it was empty from last night. My friend wandered too if they sedate them or do something to dogs when they groom them because i took her today at 11 just for a shampoo and they told me to come back at 2 to get her. She takes her maltese and pomerianan to the same place and usally they are there from like 8 till almost closing before she can come pick up hers. |
just an update. Zoe is back to normal! I believe they must have given her something to calm her and she probably just had an empty stomach, she normally doesn't eat much in the morning. So i hope that is all it was! It sure scared me though. |
I would call the groomer and find out if that's what they did. I sure wouldn't want anyone administering anything like that to my dog without my permission. I'm glad to hear she's feeling better :) |
I would call the groomer as well. Another caution...I have been warned that not all groomers are kind to dogs while they groom them. She may have had bad nerves for a reason. If you dog does not want to go to the groomers the second time (pulls away, or whimpers at the door of the groomer), take it as a sign that this may be the case. Listen to your dog...not all dog handlers are kind to animals. I have also been told that groomers who have an open layout are best, as the public can see them groom the dogs. They would never mistreat a dog in public, idea... I like to groom my dogs myself now. I know it's not for everyone, but It's a mommy and me time.:animal36 Hope she's fine now. |
