my baby is sick ! i dont know whats wrong with him. im not sure if its something he ate or what. this morning when i woke up i filled his bowl with food and he took a couple laps of food and shyed away. he then followed me back to my bedroom and went under the bed. there was no noise so i figured he was layind down under there, then i heard what sounded to be him throwing up. so i looked under the bed and pulled out all of our luggage, but saw nothing. around 3pm, my boyfriend called me at work and asked me what was wrong with him and why didnt he eat his food this morning? i told him that i didnt know what was wrong, but i noticed that he didnt eat that much this morning, but i figured he just wanted to follow me around instead. what we normally do is feed him 1/2 pedigree canned pup food and 1/2 hard dry pedigree bagged food. sometimes just for a change of pace, we will fill a small treat bowl with dry food only, so he can snack throughout the day, as well as feed him his regular mixture in the morning. so, my bf decided to try just giving him dry food. it worked. he ate it. so, now i am home from work, and i gave him some more dry food, about 10 or 12 pieces, just enough to let him know i missed him while i was away at work. so i go and sit down, and he follows me and lays down on the floor by my feet. after about 15 minutes of him laying there, i begin to hear his stomach rumble, so i remembered this sound from when he chocked on the raw hide and threw it up, so i immedeatly began patting and rubbing his back and then he threw up. im not exactly sure if he ate more of the food he shyed from earlier, or if he got ahold to something around the house, which is what my bf thinks since manny refused the food earlier. he seems kind of weak, and i guess i would be too if i only weighed 2.8lbs. but he seems to be sleeping a lot( my bf says he slept a lot while i was at work, he's sleeping next to me now.), not as playful as normal, should i try to give him something? if so what? |

If you have any thoughts that he could have gotten into anything I would take hom right a way to the ER Vet. |
I also think you should take your baby to the vet! |
I would see how he does for a little while, unless you think there's a real possibilty that he got into something poisonous. A lot of times it seems like they get an stomach upset for lots of different reasons....if he's not vomiting and doesn't have diarrhea, but just isn't eating, I'd watch him. Don't try to get him to eat until he is actually interested in food (which should not be more than a day)....and then don't give him very much, and see how he does. Also, watch his poops. That's a really good indicator (I've found) of whether something is off or not. Sometimes they've got something going on and if it's a problem like pancreatitis or gastritis, they'll vomit and/or have diarrhea. In which case, I'd get to the vet to have them do some bloodwork. Sometimes, they've eaten something that just doesn't agree with them (or they ate too much and/or too fast) and they don't feel good. Or, they ate something that REALLY doesn't agree with them (like my Max will eat cigarette butts) and then later on, be sick...where he finds them I don't know unless it's the gardeners...). You have to watch them pretty closely though, I've definitely learned that. And one of the best things you can teach your pup is "DROP IT".....when you see him picking up ANYTHING that you didn't give him or know what it is! Good luck with your baby. Hope he's feeling better by now.... |
Pedigree is not the best dog food out there. You may want to look into it. |
Pet Food information, manufacturers, products, ingredients, cat, dog, pet food. Here's the site to check on the quality of food you are feeding your little furbaby. Sorry that he is not feeling well. I really don't have any advice just make sure that he stays hydrated. Tiny ones get dehydrated pretty fast. |
