Bleeding gums 1 Attachment(s) Yesterday 5 month old Pippin was chewing on his rope toy for some time when I realized it was becoming spotted with blood. I understand that this is his chewing phase now, but should I be worried that he chews until his mouth bleeds? Also, is there something better that I should give to him to chew on? |
Awwww, your poor baby! :( I'm not going to be much help here though, but have you called your vet to see what they say? Maybe someone with more experience than I have will come along and be able to help you. I'll pray that you will be able to find a solution to help your baby. Keep us updated. |
He is actively chewing now because his next stage of teething might be beginning. The blood is probably from a baby tooth either coming in or loosening up because and adult is ready to come out. |

My vet has said that she has to surgically remove those strings that have been injested by dogs using those rope bones. They are not great, especially for pups! |
When Mogli was in the teething stage, we were playing with the rope and I realized there were little teeth falling on the floor and and blood spots on the rope! It's like human teething ... that pleasureful pain ... as long as it's not gushing and he's happy (IE not in severe pain) it's normal. Often times when you take a pup in to be neutered they'll remove remaining baby teeth that aren't going to be pushed out by the permenant ones, or teeth that are like an inner or outer set that need to be removed. Play on! |
