Allergies and salmon Royce has mild allergies and the vet suspects its due to the environment and wants me to take royce to a dermatologist ...I dont want to start with the medications allergy shots ....I heard that a diet based on atlantic salmon, sweet potatoes and other vegetables is very helpful when it comes to allergy and skin problems ...No chicken, beef or grains at all .... What do you think ? |
Well, the fish diet is helpful particularly for dogs who 1) have food allergies,2) who are under digestive stress of any kind, 3) who are suddenly ill, 4) need a temp. hypo-allergenic diet bc of some other inflammatory response in the body. So, I'm not exactly sure how you want to use this diet in terms of environmental allergies (do you mean seasonal?). Are they sure it's not food allergy? |

If your feeding dog food then I'd bet there is something in it that's causing problems. It's almost impossible to test for allergy to dog food. Look at the MANY things in it, and of course what could be in it that isn't listed. I'd start with a diet of rice and ground beef first for about a week or two to see if there is any improvement. If that seems to work, then add some grated carrots for three days. Each time you add something, make sure it's fed for three or four days before adding another food. |
