Throw up with blood? Help ASAP I just came home for lunch to play like I always do. There was throw up in the condo all over. It ws liquid but there was some bright red in it that looks like blood. I don't know which one it was as they are both acting normal and playing, drinking, having a snack! What should I do??? |
Bad situation HI, WOW, The possibilities are endless. Something eaten, SEVER worms, but that usually manifests out the other end. Did you break a plate or drop a tack lately? I know you can take a cotton ball, soak it in heavy cream and have the pup eat it...that will wrap around any SMALL forgien object and coat protect it as it is eliminated. ALSO, if moth normal acting, check the insides of the mouth for a cut, perhaps the object was dislodged. Speaking of that, check the teeth...as IF it was an oral problem, severe yacking can induce vomiting and THAT might be it Good luck, and I hope all works out |
Please call your veterinarian. |
have you called your vet? |
I'd crate them side by side so you can tell which one has the problem and stay home til I knew if it was a problem, or false alarm. If you can't stay - take them to the vet and have them babysit for the day and they should check them frequently to see which one has the problem. One day's kenneling can save a lot of grief. Check all over for red paper, newsprint etc. Good luck |
You can't tell if it is blood? Usually blood is pretty distinctive. |
Oh My, do they have runny pooh? whats there Temps? did they eat any pork, chicken or processed meat, like bologna, turkey, hotdogs? Have they been in a lake or swimming pool? Near bug spray like the kind used to spray condo's, new paint or have you changed dog foods lately to anyhting with NATURAL FLAVORINGS in it? :animal36 All these things can cause stomach probs and blood to appear. Can you confine them to carriers to see who is ill? Please call your Vet asap. My oldest did this 2 times. Once after swimming in delta "Duck Pooh in Delta water" and once after eating chicken lunch meat. 3 days of vomiting and bloody fluide. It was very scary but it passed on 3rd day. :animal36 I hope all gets better |
Don't take any chances...go to the vet....good luck |
I'd go to the vet It's better to be safe than sorry. Let us know how they are doing. |

Did you look really close on their faces ? Sometimes you can tell when they get sick - put your nose right into their face and see if you can tell by the smell - sounds gross but we have to do stuff like this to help our babies !! |
If it is truly blood then it should have a distinctive odor. Blood smells. If it is blood, take the pup to the vet, if it is bright red, chances are that the dog may have a sore in his mouth, broken a capillary or vein in his mouth or his esophagus which is not deadly serious. If it is dark blood that indicates internal bleeding and that can be very serious and deadly. Again, take to the vet. My Bengie overdosed on ibuprofen that my daughter left around, he got between 8-9,000 mm which caused internal bleeding, he was vomiting a dark bloody watery vomit and it had the smell of blood, also smell the pups mouth, if it smells of blood, that can be very dangerous. Don't take any chances, if I had not rushed Bengie to emergency he would have bled to death internally. Good luck and lots of prayers. |
Please, please call the vet and take them both in. I truly hope they are boht ok. I don't know what it could be, but I will pray for you! Weeg sends them both love and kisses and hugs! |

I agree with this definately Vet time for your little ones |
Back in April both of mine were throwing up blood.. Tuffy threw up a lot of blood and Pixie was throwing up small specks of blood. After two different trips to two different vets it turned out that they both had Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis and had to be put on several antibiotics as well as a medication that helps coat the digestive system to stop bleeding. I would suggest getting them to the vet asap, if it is something serious the vets can get them on antibiotics. I hope they feel better soon! |
Please call your vet immediately. I agreed with everyones advise. I will have you in my prayers. Good luck. Please keep us posted. |
