My Lexi keeps vomiting and vet doesn't know why My Lexi is 11 months old and has been in good health until Saturday. I believe she ate some potpouri and in the middle of the night she started vomiting and vomiting and vomiting. There is nothing left and she is now just vomiting bile. She has not eaten a thing since Saturday and has been on intravenous and antibiotics but remains in the same condition. X-rays were negative and her blood work was a little off but not considered serious. Doc said it indicated a minor infection thus the antibiotics. Today we decided to have exploratory surgery but they found nothing. Does anyone have any ideas or experiences as to what it might mean? I am worried!!!! Anita:sad: |
Praying for Lexi!!! I hope nothings wrong with Lexi.... No food what so ever since Saturday, seems like a very long time to be with nothing in her tummy... How about pedialyte, or gatorade to replenish her loss? My :aimeeyorkgizmo had an episode of vomiting when I changed his food, and he developed an intestinal infection due to the change... They even went to the extent to have exploratory surgery on Lexi...That poor baby... Why don't you get a second opinion? I hope your baby recovers soon, will be praying for her!!!:idontknow |
Sorry to hear about Lexi. Hopefully she will feel better soon. Have they done a bile acid test for liver shunt? I will keep her in my prayers. Please keep us posted |
My Lexi keeps vomitting No, we haven't done a bile acid test....but I will certainly ask about it. Thank you for your suggestion!! Anita |
If she ate the potpourri - I hope your vet consulted with a poison specialist - do you know if that occurred? Bc, there are all sorts of chemicals on potpourri. When the body continues to vomit (and nothing is directly stimulating the gag), it tells me it's trying to desperately get rid of something - so either the vet missed something on xray, or, there is a toxin present. What did poison control say? I'm so sorry that she is suffering, and you as well - this must be very scary for you. :( |
oooh poor baby :( she must be so weak and miserable :( i agree with the other posters...if the vomiting has gone on this long, that is very serious and they must have missed something! sending prayers to both of you that your vet can figure this out so she can be back to her normal, happy self! |
Sending prayers and hope that they can get to the bottom of this ! |
Sending prayers for an answer to Lexi's problem and a speedy recovery...:) |

You are in my prayers! I am so sorry to hear of your sick little Yorkie. I too have a little one that doesn't seem to keep her food down? Please pray for Gigi as her vommitting has only been 24 hours and she still has an appetite for now. Let us know what the vet says please. |
Sorry to hear Lexi is so sick Some suggestions; Did she possibly eat any outside grass or any fatty foods? Did the Dr. check her pancreas. When a dog vomits continuously it is something that is serious. Does she drink water? If not I would take her to an animal intensive hospital right away. Because they are so tiny you can't waste any time. Also when my previous dogs were very sick and were stabililzed. My Vet has always recommended boiling fresh Chicken with white rice. I would buy the best chicken boneless breast and put into a pot of water with the rice. When fully cooked let it cool down and cut the chicken up in tiny pieces and mix with the white rice. This would be good for a few days of meals and don't forget to refrigerate. I would microwave just a little bit to warm it up and give to my dog. Vet's generally recommend this diet because it is bland and they generally can hold it down. But the dog must be stabilized first. Consult with your Vet. Yorkie are like little babies always looking to get into mischief. You have to babyproof your home just as you would with an infant. I hope Lexi feels better soon. She is in my prayers. |
So sorry to hear that she's so sick. I hope that you find out what's going on right away. Feel better soon, Lexi! |
