kennel cough/pneuomonia cupcake is 12+ weeks old and we have had her for about 4 weeks. her kennel cough has developed into a major case of pneuomonia and now she can barely breath. we took her and 2 others to the vet and now they seem worse. her breathing is so labored that she holds her head upright to breath easier. i have her on a new antibiotic after being on clavomax for 2 weeks and lasiks to help draw the fluid out of her lungs. i have already droped 5grand in vet bills and really can't afford any more. can anyone tell my some home remedys that could work. i can't stand to see her suffering and may have to be euthanised if we don't see any improvements.:( |

we have a vaporizer and have been using a nebulizer to help. sometimes we have to force feed her but last night she attacked some raw chicken. i knew we shouldn't have bought her and her sister from the so called breeders, but my wife kept insisting and i eventually caved in. she now wants to put those people out of business for selling sick dogs. (i noticed she was coughing about an hour after we had bought her and it progressivly got worse). the breeders would only relace her if she dies of distemper within 2 weeks of owning her, written really small at bottom of contract. |

Baby Chloe got kennel cough from the vaccine. My vet gave her a steroid shot for inflamation. The cough lasted a month. Hope your baby gets well soon. |

YEAH! she's blowing snot bubbles and coughing again. i know it sounds funny but that means that she can breath. i gave her some more lasiks, nebulizer, and a small amount of vicks vapo rub on the chest. i got her out of the crate this morning and she was hungry. the vet had told me not to worry about the fluid in the lungs but to take care of the infection first. if the pup can't breath she can't get better. we still have a long journy ahead of us but hopefully she will start to get better. |

Last year in my area there was a very aggressive form of kennel cough that shut down a lot of the boarding kennels around here, have you been speaking with your Vet on at least a daily basis? I would call them back, sometimes what seems minor to us gives them information they need to treat our pups better. Good luck |

i had to take her to an emergency room vet, the closest we have to a regular vet is at banfield (petsmart), they are the ones that recomended the emergency room. to have a vet say not to worry right now about the fluid in the lungs was rediculous. her x-rays showed her lungs were so filled with fluid that they thought she had collapsed lungs. they had actually called my wife saying that cupcake looked like she wanted to die and they were going to have to force feed her, and also you have an outstanding balance to take care of right now. |
sorry about the rant but their callus attitude and worry over money still gets to me. they had her for 2 days and all they did was nebulazation and a penicillin shot, and when she took a turn for the worse they didn't call us to talk about it but to discuss the bill. any way she is looking better and trying to fight with the other dogs through the crate. |
Hi, There is no need to apologize, you have to remember they can not tell us what is wrong, just like a human baby. You are her advocate you speak for her, if you have to get in the Vets face than by all means do it, if you have to show up there every hour to get an answer or an update than go for it, your only concern is what is best for your dog at this moment, everything else can wait. |
