3 stooges go to the vet So, Augie, Abby & Zeus go to the vet today. Zeus gained 1/2 lb, now he's 7.5 lbs Augie gained 1.5 lbs, now he's 4 lbs Abby gained 1/2 lb, now she's 4 lbs All 3 get distemper/parvo/lepto shots. Zeus gets bloodwork for heartworms. Zeus is also diagnosed stage 1 LP in left knee, right seems ok. Zeus does not need to get his teeth cleaned, he has a little tartar but they said I can just brush and he will be fine. The first two times Augie & Abby went to get their shots, the vet gave them the shot no problem, not even a whimper. No pain or problems afterwards either. A little tired, but no pain, no swelling. Today, diff vet, made all 3 yelp in pain when she did the shots. Now the two little guys are crying their heads off in pain. No swelling. Mom called the vet and said 1tsp baby benydryl every 2 hours as needed. They've already had 3 doses. Obviously we won't be seeing that vet again, we requested the one we saw the first two times. Sorry for the book. Is there anything I can do to help besides the benydryl? Ice? Heat? |
Sorry your babies are feeling bad. I think the benydryl and sleep are the best thing for them. They should feel better tomorrow. |
oh, I HATE it when they hurt from shots- that is just so sad! Poor babies- hope they feel all better in the morning!! |
AAAWWWW I am so sorry that your babies are hurting. I would suggest a cool pack and some extra loving - and you might want a wine cooler (if you are of age :) ) Please give those babies a hug from chattiesmom and crew .... I really loved your "book" so keep 'em coming. :D Advice for next visit -- request that the vet use "baby" needles - the type that pediatricians use to give shots. Dr. Amy (I just love her to pieces) always changes out the needles and I have yet to have one that is sore from a shot. |
Well this morning Augie is feeling much better. Last night he just couldn't get comfortable, he was walking around the couch cause he didn't want to sit or lay down. But this morning was just like every other morning, the whining to get out of the basket (thats where he sleeps until he is potty trained) and morning kisses. Thanks for the advice. Next time we are asking for the vet we saw the first 2 times, she was great. And I'll mention the baby needles. The ones they used were about 1/2 inch long. They looked small to me, but who knows. |
