Apple Seeds!!!! I forgot and left my apple core where my dogs could reach it. I don't know which one took it but I think it was Daisy Do, she is only 3 lbs. She is not the only who could have gotten it but she was the one who was closest when I came back and she looked the guiltiest. Anyone know of anything I can give her or any one of them to minimize the damage? Anyone know how long before I might see any signs of distress? Sylvia |
I did a google search and found where you posted on Yahoo. Like you, I would be worried with a 3 pound dog. Do you have an ER Vet you could call and see what he thinks? I can't believe no one has posted to your thread...they must be in bed! I'll say a prayer that all goes well for your little one! |
No, out here they are all for the money. They won't give ANY advice over the phone and my vet gives out his cell number then won't answer it. Most things I have read say it shouldn't be a problem but most of them are talking about bigger dogs. None of my dogs are acting odd at all and they respond when I call them. What I have read suggests that there would be a quick reaction but stomach acid eats stuff and nutrients are absorbed thru the lining of the intestines. It would take longer for a reaction from the intestines than it would from the stomach. I just don't know how long to worry. Sylvia |
I don't have any advice, just want to bump this up for you in hopes someone has experience with this. Hope your babies will be fine! |
Oh my are apples or apple seeds bad for yorkies?? I eat apples and Cooper always wants some so he usually gets a couple bites. |
I give them apples all the time but I don't eat the cores and so never did give them the seeds. Then I read that the seeds will kill them and was thankful I never had given them any. It is just the seeds that is bad for them. Sylvia |
Just letting everyone who reads this know that no one has suffered any bad effects. I sure hope everything is past, it has been over 24 hours. I would not suggest to anyone to let their pets eat apple cores but at least it looks like if they get ONE core and they are in good health, it shouldn't cause a problem. I wouldn't test it this way again but it is good to know that I didn't need to panic about it. Thanks, Sylvia |
