limping puppy :aimeeyork my 4 month old puppy, gus, jumped out of my neices arms and got hurt. he is limping. he appears to be in pain. all his joints have range of motion. he can walk, but holds his right leg up. can i use a cold or warm compress should i wrap it or splint it? . i think it is a sprain. any advice.. i dont have vet access today and would appreciate any tips for assessing or treating him. thank you. jen i will search online also.:animal-pa |
I had this with Alfie and I put a warm compress on his and just rested it. |
I would keep him as quiet as possible to rest the leg and see how he is in the morning. If he is still favoring it Iwould get him in to the vet. I hope it is just sprained and he will be fine in a day or two. |
I suggest going to the vet, too. Similar thing happened to Tucker on Wednesday and he hasn't been using his leg very much. Vet said, it turns out he has LP. :( |
how is Gus doing?? |
gus is better thank you for your concern. my little guy is better, but going to the vet on monday to get him checked..:) |
glad to hear that. Let us know what the vet says. It is so scary, these guys can be scirmy. I know one gal said she doesn't let anyone hold her dogs or pick up her dogs unless they are sitting down. I had never even thought about that before |
gus is ok Quote:

Thats great news Just be watchful of l.p. this is what Tede is going in for. They love to jump. and those knee are so little. have fun keeping a YORKIE quiet heheheh. I have to do it for 8 weeks:eek:  :D |
praying his pain decreases and things improve quickly. Isn't it great when you love & trust your vet! |

the knee There are lots of threads on y.t about it. I learned here so many yourkie have gone through it . I will do my best to explain. the knee has a little notch.. our babys are small the groves are small. some times they have to go in and make it bigger so it does not slip in and out. small breads get this(jumping) or just it doest grow good. now in Tedes case he is 16 months so the insurence says its genitic so they wont cover it.does that help:icon5:  Im not a good explainer |
