Is loose stool by itself a reason for concern? I swear Im never leaving my dogs again. I was gone for 3 days on vacation and dh watched the dogs. He said they were fine but did say my Yorkie had eaten grass a few times which she usually only does when her stomach is upset. When we returned from him picking me up she also had an accident of loose stool. Later I walked her and she had a normal stool. Just in case, I fed her boiled chicken and white rice yesterday and today. She ate very well and has seemed fine in all ways but today when I walked her she a very loose stool again. I worry so much but do you think this is any reason for concern. Thanks |
I would keep her on a blan diet for at least 24 to 48 hours. ( sometimes baby food puree like chicken or turkey) will also help. As long as she is not lethargic or vomitting she should be okay.. keep her hydrated..too. We used to give pedialite for 24 hrs also. If she continues or it gets worse no appetite then take her in..hope she feels better.. |
I agree with ckuz13, just keep an eye on her. Could be a tummy upset from stress of you being gone. Hope she's better soon |
The vet can prescribe something for the diarrhea- Metroidazole and it the tummy is making loud noises I have been given the permission from the vet to give 1/4 of pepcid a/c. (I have two yorkies and have given them 1/4 tablet of the pepcid) 1 weighs 6.5 lbs and the other weighs 11.5 lbs. It always works well if they ever get an upset tummy. make sure your dog is drinking plenty of water and stays hydrated too. Very important. Also I have heard that canned pumpkin in small amounts is good for upset stomach. I have never given this before but I read on YT that it is great for diar and stomach upset. If not better in 3 days you need to get her to the vet bc it can be very serious if it lasts longer than a few days. |
When giving pepcid, make sure it is the 10mg ones. There are 20mg tablets. I was just told by my vet to give my little one for upset tummy from one of his meds. |
yes. I should have specified that. 10 mg reg Pepcid AC NO extra strength or advanced. Just plain Pepcid 10 mg. :-) Hope your little ones tummy is feeling better tomorrow! |
