Oh that is just so encouraging!! Isn't it truly amazing how much better WE feel when THEY feel better? So glad that Mitzi enjoyed her stroll amongst the ducks.:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Thank you so much! Mitzi was walking great again today and ALMOST got a duck! Those ducks are used to get fed by people and come running as soon as they see you. Hubby didn't pay attention for a second and one duck came really close to Mitzi, she shot towards her and you could hear Mitzi's jaws click... Poor little duck got the scare of her life! LOL!!! (BTW... Mitzi is about 4.5 lbs. and the duck is twice her size... :p) Yes, it IS amazing how much we are attached to those little monsters... :D

New here, and really sorry about your baby. I am just now starting the kidney issues with mine, he's 12. He's on K/d diet and actually loves it, which is weird. And now the vet wants him on BP meds, I guess it's high. I don't have a clue what to do or where to go. I will check the link posted in this thread.
This is a tough thing to deal with. I'm glad your baby is doing better. Hang in there.:hug:

Thanks Debbie, but I have to admit that all my knowledge is gleaned from other member here, like Wylie's Mom and co.:) I'm going to check your post now, hope I find it.
It's easy to help members, because so many times I don't know where I would be without them as well.

How is Monday doing? I believe you had a trip back to the Vet today.

I know she is scaring the geese away, so that is a good sign.

and C&W do also. They checked in from Buenos Aires. They are there on business again.

LOL!!! Good suggestion! The way she eats lately I guess she would have it RAW with feathers and all... :D

Oh, I don't know Sonja, if Mitzi is anything like Kia, she wants a duck for a pet of her own. Out of all the Orphaned Wildlife fostering I have done over the years, a baby duckling we hatched a few years ago was Kia's favorite. That little duckling and Kia were inseparable, Sweetie, (the duckling) would nestle under Kia's chin and sleep, and she would preen Kia's beard. :yelrotflm

I am so glad to hear that Mitzi is doing so well, and I keep her in my prayers, that she will continue to do well for years to come.

That is just beyond sweet, a Yorkie-Duck couple. Perhaps Mitzi needs a pet duck too to aid her in personal grooming and snuggles. Too cute!:p

Hope Mitzi had a great day and another chance to go poultry chasing.:D

just checking in to see how you and Mitzi are doing... Have you got any valuable info from the kidney support group? Did you get a copy of all labs. can you post the values if so. I am curious to see the BUN and Creatine especially.

Has anyone had experience with injecting fluids under the skin? Our 15 year old Yorkie is developing kidney problems. She is eating poorly ... will not accept medications easily and hates vet visits, innoculations, etc. The vet suggests we give her injections of fluids daily and that might prolong her life for a while. I don't want to make her remaining life unpleasant and would like some advice from people who have used this treatment. Thanks

Don't mean to steal your post but ditto. Zipp's Creatine has been slowly increasing and is at 2.5 as of Oct 2011 was 1.4 Oct 2009. The old guy is around 17, don't know for sure but he was around 15 fall of 2009 when I read his story on YT and went up to Ohio Feb 2010 to adopt him.

I am facing the same problem with Zipp. His creatine is slowly increasing from 1.4 Fall 2009 to 2.5 Oct 2011. The Vet said sub q fluids maybe needed eventually. He's on K/D. You all might remember him as Spike the 15 yr old left at the shelter in Ohio. Apologize if I hopped on your post.

After careful consideration and replies from the Yorkie site, we decided to allow Duchess her normal life span and not to intervene with injecting fluids. She is a dog who does not like to take medications or be handled medically. She rejected taking the pill pocket we used for her medication (Denamarin) last week and since then she has started to eat well again and is much livelier. We think the medication must have given her indigestion! Good luck with Zipp.
