LP? Today Armani and I were at the vets and she said he has stage I LP? what in the world does this mean for his future? He exhibits no pain, nothing, he didn even flinch when she was moving it around. He is to take a supplement BID but... he wont go near it she said its flavored and that he would eat it, but he wont! Ah.. I dunno I am trying to stay calm but I cant, I am worried about him. |
I'm sorry to hear about your baby. My vet told me my zeus has lp also, but at that time I couldn't feel what he felt. Zeus doesn't show that he has any pain, he still jumps up on the couch & chair & bed. We'll find out more on 4/7 when we go to the vet. I hope everything turns out ok for armani & you. |
Armani doesn not jump up on anything (he can he just wont, never has even when he was a baby). She said stage I is not bad, but we want to prevent future progression. It seems that a lot of Yorkies are coming up with LP now. I hope things turn out ok for you and your baby. :) |
The slippage is graded from 1-4 with 4 being the worst. Since his is only a grade 1, you really shouldn't worry about it. Just make sure he doesn't jump on and off furniture and make it any worse. Here's a good article that explains it: http://www.peteducation.com/article....&articleid=457 |
thanks that is a good article. it seems that LP is very common, but its weird that they say not to breed the dog if LP occurs, however.. we see more and more cases popping up meaning not all breeders are listening. I worry about Armani over every little thing and now this.. I just need to get him to take the supplement. lol |
I don't mean to hijack your thread but for those of us that don't know anything about it are there any signs or symptoms to look out for? My minpin is walking along fine then the next second she lets out a yelp and tries to bite at her back leg like something just bit her. Could that be a sign of LP? |
i am sorry I have no idea lol Armani shows no symptoms :( |

AH :( I am sorry Layla is having some trouble. Have you had her on any supplements? Armani was given some daily supplements to support joints, she said this will help maintain the joints and hopefully prevent progression. |

I am praying for both your babies |
I actually switched to homecooking b/c of layla and yours stories :) btw.. just wanted to say thanks. I am wondering if there is another good supplement to give to our fur babies to prevent further progression |

Armani doesn jump... ever since he came here.. he wont jump on and off furniture.. I am not sure why he just waits to be picked up or put down. And he wont go up our stairs here because they are wood floor and slippery.. So really he just runs around lol no jumping. We love homecooking. Yesterday Armani had catfish with carrots and green beans :) and rice (but he doesn really like it.) |
