Scabs on her back, big flakes and smells hello everyone long time since ive been on here! ( recently found out im pregnant and have been trying to get housing etc sorted out, baby due in August) anyway back to my furbaby! gracie is just ovre a year old, some of you may remeber pictures of her. She went to the grromers in october and when we got her back we noticed a patch of fur that looked different. plaer hair there. anyway over the next months it looked like she had bad dandruft in one spot and has increasingly gotten worse. we took her to the vets who decided to shave her fur and disenfect it. she was given tablets and we were told it was achne? well 3 months on it still hasnt got and she is due for another hair cut soon, shes getting so notty! and i cant wait to get her looking hwo she did before. have any of you experienced this, what is it? some people have suggested mange? it seems a little extreem. the vets wernt really too helpful... thanks for your help in advance i am really looking forward to reading your experiences. |
It could be a staph infection. My golden retriever has one right now and its like you described. She's on antibiotics now and it seems to be clearing up. I'm thinking she'll have to have another round though, because I don't think this round is going to kick it. Are there any pimple like bumps? That's what alerted me to take Jordan to the vet. Good luck! |
Oh and good luck with finding housing and with your pregnancy! How exciting! :D |
Best Wishes with your pregnanacy! as for your furkid,,, our Daisy had Demodectic mange,, while seeing the vet all along since the day i got her,, we thought at first was a dandruff like spot, ,would come and go,, and she had a blond spot in her black coat,, on her back,, long story short,, nearing her second heat,, the place on her back got worse and worse,, vet still thought contact rash til i asked him to test (skin scrape) to his surprise and my utter dismay,, she was found to have Demodectic mange,, so I had her spayed shortly thereafter,, best of luck,, (it does have a distinctive smell) Daisys was well treated and is under control now,, (no breakout):aimeeyork |
Hmmm, in just this one spot? Do her ears smell? Have you checked between her toes? Under armpits? Her chest? All around her neck/ears? Could be mange, yeast, sebborhea, staph, allergy - just not sure - but I'd reaaaaaaaaallly look her over in all the nooks and crannies. |
ill give her a good checking, but it seems to be in just the one spot on her back, im going to take her back to the vets and ask them to do a skin scrape. because i wasnt impressed with how they dealt with it last time grrr i just want my baby to be better! |
