Blood in stool Can anyone tell me if they experienced this.....After my yorkie was chewing on her rawhide bone she had diarrhea and blood in her stool for one day. Has this happened to anyone? I was so worried about her all night!!! Thanks for your help |
I heard not to give them rawhides! The first day I brought Charlie home he has blood in his stool, but it soon passed. Maybe you should take your dog to the vet..just to be safe. |
Yes but my dog got it from a nylabone. Raw hide is one of the worst chews you can give your pet along with greenies, nylabones and bullysticks to name a few. Please take the rawhide away. Go to the pet store and purchase a natural beef bone. It's safe to chew and provides all the chewing for any dog. Just get one that fits his mouth. The rawhide, if a piece is bitten off and swollowed can swell in the stomach and cause a blockage. The nylabones fragments can tear up the inner wall of the linning of the stomach etc. Don't panic. See if it continues if so get your pup to the vet. It could even be from something else but since you asked IMO that is why I no longer give my Yorkie any of the above. Watch him carefully. Good luck, |
Thanks for your help. I did take the rawhide away from Mia last night. So a beef bone is the only bone they should have? Can you get these at PetCo? Thanks for you help!!! |

http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...eferrerid=4890 I hope this helps. Any pet store carries them. You can also stuff some chicken, peanut butter or cheese in them and keep them busy for sometime. |
