Vaccination lump :( Penny has a lump on her neck from her rabies vaccination. I know this a somewhat common possible reaction so we are just keeping an eye on it. Still, it makes me sad. Thankfully, it does not bother here. Who else has dealt with one of these? I read that it can take a long time for them to fully go away. We'll be watching to make sure it doesn't worsen, but I know other than that it's just a waiting game. *sigh* I did put a light heat wrap on it for a bit yesterday. Felt that stimulating the blood in that area could promote healing. |
Sorry to hear Penny has a little lump from her shots-Emma had one of these from her rabies shot, and it took about 4-6 months for it to disappear. Since than, I request that the rabies shot be put into the leg, where they don't make as large of a lump as on the back, and then at least I know that it's the rabies shot right in that location, if I do feel a lump. |
Pixie is just getting over hers. She had it in her right hip area and it was huge. I took her in to the vet to check as the vet gave her the shot out of the room so I wasn't sure where she got it and we didn;t notice the lump for a week. They confirmed that's all it was. It didn't seem to bother Pixie and it went down after a month, but still is there alittle bit. My vet said sometimes they never go away completely. Hope Penny's lump goes away soon. |

Layla is horrible for shot reactions... the lump usually lasts up to a month but only bothers her for 2-3 days. It is suggested to put a warm compress on, like you said, to promote healing. Poor Penny! sending hugs! |
awwww poor penny :( those rabies shots hurt like the dickens! :( my 2 got theirs in their leg/hip area and although it hurt, neither got a lump...the area was sore for a couple of days though i think the heat is a good idea...anything to help her get more comfy! hope she feels better soon  |
