My poopy is sick
 
I'm not sure what's wrong with London:( She woke up this morning at like 6 and did poop, it was soft but not complete diarrhea. Then at 7 she pooped again and it was diarrhea and threw up 2 times about 30 min ago. She was perfectly fine yesterday. I called my vet and they are all booked for atleast the next 3 days, so ive been calling around other vets to see if they have a spot open today. But im just worried for her, she rarely gets sick but when she does she is so small, i worry sick! She also doesn't seem to want water. :(

No not today but i did switch her food 2 days ago from California Natural to Karma organics. That could be the reason i think for the diarrhea maybe but i switched it 2 days ago and she just started this morning. She was fine yesterday and her stools were solid. Also when i listen to her breath on her back it sounds kinda weazy like if she may have a cold..

If you are in Manhattan there is an walk in 24 hour ER Vet on 15th between 5th and 6th avenue, closer to 5th. My sistser lives upstairs from there, we had to bring her dog in on New Years Eve and they were wonderful. Good Luck

That food does have spinach and broccoli in it which is fine if it sets well with your dogs but for some it doesn't. I guess she needs to be seen anyway because of the wheezing but I would try switching her back. I'm sure you wouldn't be comfortable withholding food all day from her but how about pulling it for a few hours and giving her PediaLyte every hour or so while you are waiting for a vet appt?

Thnx! Did they charge you a whole lot? I am going to keep the address just in case. I finally got an appt. for today at 3 for a vet around here, i live more uptown.

I noticed in her vomit there were carrots, which i did give her yesterday, i think i may have given her too much. I am going to ask the vet, i might switch back too. The others seem fine on it, well Teddy loves it but the girls loved the calif. nat. and they were tiny bites too, these are bigger so i think i will switch back. I will see how it goes at the vet today. I have to take a stool sample. I was planning on giving her white rice and chicken until we go to the vet. Do you think that will be okay? Before when any of them were sick that seemed to do the trick

It could be okay but if she throws up after eating it, I think you will have to pull food.

Ok thanks i will do that. I just gave her a little rice and she ate it so i think that's good. My mom was making her soup and put garlic in it for flavor and i took it out and said no garlic, and she said it's fine cause Rachel Ray gave it to her dog:rolleyes: . I said mom Rachel Ray's dogs are big, my dogs are little 3 lb dogs, they cannot eat that. lol I can't believe it

Does that mean you just switched "bang," or did you do a gradual switch over two weeks?

Switched bang. I usually do it gradually, i didn't know it was supposed to be over a 2 week span though, anyway yes i switched it suddenly because i ran out of the other food and my bf bought them this food so we had none of the other left

I'm back! The vet said she was dehydrated but that its good she kept the chicken and rice down i gave her. He wanted to do all this other stuff which would have totaled to $358 so i was like no that's ridiculous for one visit(it wasnt my usual vet) so i paid for the check up fee and for her stool to be evaluated it was $145 all together. They are so expensive there! They wanted to do bloodwork which i do want to do but i want to go to my reg. vet, and they wanted to do a heartworm check, they wanted to inject her with some fluids and give me food to give her. I thought all that was unnesesary. I didn't really like that vet. He seemed to be in a hurry, for that much money i like them to take their time and check them good. She is acting normal now and now throwing up so i think she i will be okay. If not i will take her to my vet. They are going to call me tom. to tell me the results of the stool. She also has LP:( He didn't tell me how bad it is, he said the right one is worse than the left and that's it. He was in a hurry:confused:

how frustrating for you that the vet you went to (not your regular one) was in such a hurry and wanted to charge you an arm and a leg ... i also hope the LP is not too bad :( did your regular vet ever mention LP to you?

No, they never even checked but she was still a puppy.

wow...how nice of that vet to drop that bombshell on you and then be in a hurry :( ... i guess LP is not a big deal to them? :( :thumbdown

i hope your vet is able to give london a full exam to check about the LP and hopefully it is not too bad...since they were in such a hurry, maybe they did not do a careful enough check! :(

still hoping everything goes okay when you see your reg vet!
